Indiana is getting a visit from 7-foot-3 Italian center Luigi Suigo next week, June 17. That’s according to a report by Joe Tipton of On3. Suigo is visiting Purdue the day before.  He visited Illinois in February.  Tipton is also reporting BYU, Kentucky, Louisville, and Texas A&M are among the other schools involved. If emotions were the only criteria, the 2007 IU football season would surely vault to the top of this list.  To properly tell the story, you have to go back a few years. Terry Hoeppner was named IU’s 26th head football coach on December 17, 2004.  His infectious energy soon took hold, and after a 4-1 start to the 2005 season, it appeared that the program might be on its way to finally turning things around. Indiana would struggle the rest of the way in 2005 and finished the season 4-7, but the optimism surrounding the program was still high.…

Indiana was forced to rely heavily on the transfer portal to build its 2025-26 roster, and ESPN is giving first-year head coach Darian DeVries high marks for the group he has assembled. With the smoke mostly cleared on roster overhauls, that outlet says the Hoosiers have the seventh-best transfer portal class in the nation and third-best in the Big Ten. Here’s what ESPN’s Jeff Borzello said about IU’s portal additions: For a second consecutive season, Darian DeVries is overseeing a complete overhaul at a new job. Except for a couple of returnees hoping for waivers to play another season and…

Leave it to Curt Cignetti to lay bare the new reality in college sports:  Now more than ever, programs within athletic departments are competing for money. Entering his second year as head football coach at IU, Cignetti was asked recently what he thought of the spring additions to his roster. Enter tongue into cheek. “I’d like to have signed a few more, but when we hired Darian (DeVries) and he lost his whole roster, money got a little tight because he had to put a team together, and I felt the pinch,” Cignetti said. Cignetti managed to crack a smile…

New Albany H.S. (New Albany, Ind.) rising sophomore Noah Washington has an early claim to being one of the top in-state players in his class. And he’s a clear 2028 name to know for the Hoosiers. The 6-foot-5 Washington helped the Bulldogs go 19-5 as a freshman in 2024-25.  They reached the sectional finals while he averaged 14.5 points per game in his first year of high school.  They lost to eventual 4A state champion Jeffersonville. There’s not much in the way of rankings to this point for the 2028 class, but look for Washington to be in the conversation…

The key components of the settlement have been well understood for months, and schools like Indiana have been preparing for this day. Here are the underpinnings of…

ESPN’s Jordan Reid listed IU football quarterback Fernando Mendoza among his top nine “names to know” when it comes to the top signal-callers and the 2026 NFL Draft. Also listed by Reid are Drew Allar (Penn State), Carson Beck (Miami), Cade Klubnik (Clemson), Sam Leavitt (Arizona State), Arch Manning (Texas), John Mateer (Oklahoma), Garrett Nussmeier (LSU), and LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina). Reid expects quarterbacks to be in high demand in 2026 because only two were chosen in the first round in April. Mendoza transferred to IU from Cal…
