It’s homecoming weekend at Maryland when No. 2 Indiana takes on the Terrapins at SECU Stadium on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS). That typically doesn’t mean much for the visiting team, but this weekend’s game will certainly have special significance for running back Roman Hemby. The senior running back is a Maryland native who spent the first four seasons of his college career playing for coach Mike Locksley and the Terps. He’s not the only Hoosier who started his career in College Park.  Defensive end Kellan Wyatt played his first three seasons at for Maryland.  Unfortunately for Wyatt, he won’t…

Elon transfer forward Nick Dorn is expected to be a key contributor for Indiana basketball this season. But to this point Dorn has missed all of IU’s exhibition action, live scrimmage and games this summer in Puerto Rico. His debut on the court should be coming very soon. According to a report by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Dorn “hopes to be fully cleared for all basketball related activities this week and if so, would be questionable for the opener on November 5th against Alabama A&M, per Darian DeVries.” The Daily Hoosier can confirm Rothstein’s report, via a source. Dorn has…

To the victor goes the spoils? As Penn State attempts to find a replacement for James Franklin, the IU football staff, including many with Pennsylvania ties, have aggressively moved in to attempt to flip some of their high school commits. ESPN says in a report IU is in pursuit of 2026 running back Messiah Mickens and 2026 wide receiver Davion Brown, both former PSU commits.  A separate Rivals report also names 2027 linebacker Gabe Jenkins as a main IU target.  All of them are 4-star prospects who have recently announced their decommitments from Penn State. Here’s a bit more on…

All three outlets that cover football recruiting — ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports — are singing from the same sheet:  Indiana is the leader to flip former Penn State class of 2026 wide receiver commit Lavar Keys, national reporters from each have said this week. Keys took a visit to Indiana for this past weekend’s game against UCLA, a 56-6 blowout win for the Hoosiers.  He also visited Bloomington over the summer, when rumors of a potential flip first surfaced. Since he de-committed from Penn State, Keys has picked up offers from Indiana, Kansas State, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and others.  He…

When E.J. Williams had his most productive college season, he was an 18-year-old catching passes from Trevor Lawrence at Clemson. Yeah, it’s been a minute. That was the 2020 COVID season, when Williams appeared ready to live up to the hype as a true freshman.  A national top-100 4-star recruit, he caught 24 passes for 306 yards and 2 touchdowns in his college debut campaign, and his NFL debut appeared to just be a matter of time. But Williams would only catch 16 passes over the next two seasons combined at Clemson, and he transferred to IU to play for…

We are one week away from hearing from the College Football Playoff Committee for the first time. And with a win this weekend at Maryland, Indiana appears certain to be one of the four teams that will receive a bye in the Committee’s initial projection of the field.  The Hoosiers did nothing but improve their outlook with a 56-6 destruction of UCLA on Saturday. But where will IU end up in the first projection of the field? A new CFP policy implemented in 2025 guarantees the five highest-ranked conference champions a place in the Playoff, but will no longer include…

Indiana All-American linebacker Aiden Fisher is “probable” to play this weekend at Maryland, coach Curt Cignetti said on Monday. Fisher left the UCLA game with an apparent knee injury.  He attempted to play through the injury briefly with a brace, but did not participate at all in the second half and only played 10 snaps in the contest. Cignetti described pulling Fisher out of the game as a “precautionary” measure when he was asked about it on Saturday. Isaiah Jones filled in for Fisher alongside Rolijah Hardy at linebacker. Jones forced a first half fumble after the injury. Fisher has…

Indiana will play three of their final four regular season games on the road, and that journey begins at Maryland this weekend. The No. 2 Hoosiers (8-0, 5-0) will face the Terrapins (4-3, 1-3) Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. ET at SECU Stadium in College Park, Md. (CBS). Indiana is 8-5 all-time against Maryland.  IU won the most recent meeting a year ago, 42-28 in Bloomington.  That was the last Big Ten game Indiana has played that wasn’t in front of a sold out home crowd. Maryland’s season has followed an inverse path to that of this past weekend’s opponent,…
