Indiana coach Mike Woodson spoke with the media Friday morning, just hours after the news broke his lone class of 2024 commit, 5-star Liam McNeeley, was reopening his recruitment. IU leaked earlier this week Woodson would be back as head coach for the 2024-25 season, his fourth in Bloomington. Woodson was asked during a Friday Zoom conference about his level of concern with having no commits in the 2024 class.  It was just the latest uncomfortable question the 65-year-old has faced this week. On Wednesday following his team’s 70-58 win at Minnesota, Woodson was asked about the news of him…

This feels like the canary in the coal mine moment. And strangely enough, it comes just a day after Indiana leaked its decision to retain Mike Woodson for a fourth season. Admittedly, it is a bit difficult to process this moment.  And a part of you wonders, “what is really going on here?” On Thursday evening the news broke Indiana’s lone class of 2024 signee has reopened his recruitment. Liam McNeeley, perhaps the best 3-point shooter in the class of 2024, will not attend the high major college basketball program that shoots the least threes this season.  Let that sentence…

The news comes a day after Indiana announced the return of Mike Woodson as head coach for the 2024-25 season. McNeeley chose Indiana over Kansas in the fall. Indiana might have been able to let the season play out and make an informed decision based on a full body of work. But it seems like the message board and chat server crowds, gaslighted by those who fan the flames at such outlets, put the question on referendum sooner than expected. Mike Woodson will be back for a fourth season. How did we get here? Somehow Auburn coach Bruce Pearl’s name started showing up…

The rumors about the death of Indiana basketball have been greatly exaggerated, we think.  For the first time in over a year, the Hoosiers are on a three-game winning streak against high-major competition. Indiana started fast with an 8-0 run to open the game.  They did fall behind 23-18, but closed the first half on a 12-2 run.  After trading baskets to open the second, the Hoosiers pulled away in convincing fashion.  A 26-12 stretch over 10 minutes of the second half proved decisive. Let’s take a deeper look at how IU won 70-58 with another edition of The Report…
