Indiana defeated Penn State 61-59 Thursday evening to advance to the Friday quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament. Now, the revenge tour continues as Indiana tries to reach the semifinals for a third straight season. Like Thursday’s challenge, Indiana faces another team that swept them during the regular season — the No.3 seed Nebraska Cornhuskers. Nebraska beat IU by very similar scores — 86-70 on Jan. 3 in Lincoln, and 85-70 on Feb. 21 in Bloomington. Indiana survived a tight opener at the Big Ten Tournament without Trey Galloway. The Hoosiers will likely have to try to keep winning this weekend without him. The senior guard was with the team on the bench on Thursday evening but not in uniform as the Hoosiers defeated Penn State 61-59 in second round action at Target Center. Indiana defeated Penn State 61-59 on Thursday evening in second round Big Ten Tournament action at Target Center. The Hoosiers led at halftime 32-27 and were led in the game by Kel’el Ware with 18 points. The three keys to the game, highlights and final stats are below. Indiana offered the top-ranked player in the 2026 class from the state of Illinois. Gabriel Sularski announced the offer on his X account following a visit to Bloomington on Sunday for the Michigan State game.  That was Sularski’s second visit to IU.  He also came for Hoosier Hysteria in October. The 6-foot-6, 190-pound Sularski led Benet Academy (Lisle, Ill.) in scoring this season as a sophomore.  A versatile inside and out scorer, he averaged 14 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists for the Class 4A regional champions. Indiana offered class of 2026 in-state guard Steven Reynolds III while he was in Bloomington for the Michigan State game over the weekend. Reynolds announced the IU offer on his X account. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard attends Washington H.S. in South Bend, Ind.  He plays spring and summer basketball for Phenom United on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. According to MaxPreps, Reynolds averaged 20.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 3.2 blocks and 1.2 steals per game as a sophomore.  He shot 42 percent overall, and 30 percent from three. The Big Esports Conference, a league comprised of all Big10 schools, came together this year to form its own esports conference. Within this conference, schools competed in multiple games, including the ever-popular tactical shooter game, Valorant. For the second straight season, an IU basketball player is the Big Ten Freshman of the Year. Mackenzie Mgbako shares the honor with Iowa’s Owen Freeman, the league announced on Tuesday. The 6-foot-8 Mgbako is averaging 12.2 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 34.3 percent from three.
