Preseason All-American Trayce Jackson-Davis hasn’t just unlocked a new level on the offensive end of the floor with career bests of 24.4 points per 40-minutes and 61.2 percent from the field, but also on the defensive end. Offense has always been the focal point for the big man. As a freshman, Jackson-Davis led the team with 13.5 points per game and has taken a major leap since his first season. The now junior forward is averaging a career-high in points with 19.3 and assists with 1.6. He even managed to break the Assembly Hall scoring record with 43 points against…

Indiana fans have circled the date and started making hotel reservations in Lawrence, Kansas for December 17, 2022. The Hoosiers announced earlier this week their plan for a home-and-home series with the Kansas Jayhawks. The first game will be played at Allen Fieldhouse with the 2023 return game taking place at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. For first year head coach Mike Woodson, the mini-series was constructed with the fans in mind. “Well, look at both programs. Kansas has got great tradition, man, got a great coach in Bill (Self) down there. I just think fans want to see games like…

The frontcourt for the Hoosiers was too tall, too big, too athletic, and too dominant for the undersized Merrimack Warriors in Indiana’s 81-49 win. When the game was all said and done, the Hoosiers out-rebounded Merrimack 54-16. Out of those rebounds, 18 of them were on the offensive end and led to 21 total second-chance points. The Warriors, on the other hand, only had four total offensive rebounds that resulted in two second-chance points.  It was a total mismatch down low. “We were a bigger team versus this team, so I’d like to think that we should out-rebound this team,”…

After transferring from the University of South Florida, Michael Durr’s Hoosier career got off to a slow start.  But now a regular in the rotation, he is trying to find a rhythm in his new home. When he first arrived in Bloomington, Durr was sidelined with a knee injury. As a result, he missed both exhibition games in the Bahamas against BC Mega. Durr was expected to return in time for the season opener but was held out of the game. He made his season debut against Northern Illinois and scored two points on 1-of-4 shooting, and added an assist…

The wheels fell off the bus for the Hoosiers in the second half as they let a 17-point halftime lead slip through their fingers. They remain winless at the Kohl Center since January 1998 after the 64-59 loss to No. 22 Wisconsin. The team started a bit flat, shooting 0-for-6 before making their first basket on a Race Thompson put-back. After that, the offense found its rhythm. Parker Stewart came back on the next possession to hit a three– his first of three on the night, and nine first-half points. Eventually, the Hoosiers went on a 22-4 run. Five starters…

When the Indiana Hoosiers terminated the contract of former head coach Archie Miller, many players had decisions to make regarding their futures. Through the early parts of the season, it appeared that Anthony Leal may have made the wrong decision. Okay, truth be told he was never going anywhere, but still, Leal was relegated to the bench and saw minimal minutes. Through the first eight games, the sophomore only got off the bench three times and saw a total of 24 minutes. Despite taking a back seat to recruits and transfers and being frozen out of the lineup, Leal stayed…

Mike Woodson was looking for answers midway through the first half, and he found them sitting on the bench. The Hoosiers picked up where they left off at Syracuse, and opened their Big Ten opener against Nebraska by turning the ball over when Trayce Jackson-Davis traveled while trying to make a move to the basket. That was just the first of seven turnovers in the opening 10 minutes as the Hoosiers quickly found themselves trailing 16-6. Woodson, fed up with the team coming out “flat,” went to the bench. Out came Race Thompson, Miller Kopp, Parker Stewart, and Xavier Johnson.…

This was the game the Hoosier faithful were hoping for when sharpshooter Miller Kopp transferred to IU. The Northwestern transfer hit four threes and had a career-high with 28 points on Tuesday at Syracuse. Kopp also nailed all three of his free throws to tie the game after being fouled in the second overtime, capping off his best performance as a Hoosier. In the past two games, Kopp is shooting 5-of-10 from three for 50 percent, and his confidence is starting to show. “If I make a lot of shots a game, or don’t, I always have a lot of…

It was a tale of two halves, and then some, for IU in their 112-110 double-overtime loss to the Syracuse Orange. The Hoosiers started sluggish and timid in the early stages of their first road game at the Carrier Dome. Indiana sleepwalked their way to halftime, turning the ball over 13 times. That number ballooned to 26 throughout the second half and overtime periods, and it would prove to ultimately be a decisive factor in the game. “My whole approach coming out on the road, the first thing I told these guys was you can’t turn the ball over. You…

The Hoosiers are 6-0 and have aced all of their tests in the early part of the season. They will look to pass their biggest yet as they take on Syracuse in their first road trip of the season at one of college basketball’s toughest venues. The Carrier Dome has a max listed capacity of 34,616 people for basketball. The largest crowd in attendance included 35,642 people. That is more than double the size of Indiana’s Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall’s 17,222 capacity. And when the Dome is filled with a sea of crazy fans decked in blue and orange in…
