Indiana is slated to have one of the top guards in the class of 2025 on campus.

Junior 5-star Meleek Thomas is planning to take an official visit to IU, national analyst Rob Cassidy of Rivals is reporting.

“I want to go take more official visits,” Thomas told Cassidy, who has already been to Pitt, Auburn, Kentucky, Penn State, and others. “I’m going to take officials to UConn, Arkansas, and Indiana.”

Thomas has already been on multiple unofficial visits to Bloomington in 2022, including when Indiana hosted North Carolina.

“The atmosphere is crazy there. It’s (Bloomington) a basketball town,” he told On3’s Jamie Shaw.  “‘Meleek, Meleek,’ I went for the North Carolina game, and everyone was screaming my name. It was big, and it is all love with the fans.”

As a junior at Lincoln Park H.S. (Midland, Pa.), Thomas averaged a double-double with 23.5 points and 10.8 rebounds while adding 5.8 assists and 3.3 steals per game.  He has won the WPIAL and PIAA Class 4A titles for two years in a row, and now has 1,750 career points.

Thomas plays for the New York Lightning on the Nike EYBL Circuit for spring and summer basketball.  He averaged 21 points and seven rebounds during the opening weekend in Memphis.

The 6-foot-4 Thomas is a consensus national top-10 5-star according to the major recruiting outlets.  He is the No. 6 overall player and the No. 2 shooting guard according to the On3 Industry Average.  IU offered Thomas a scholarship back in Sept. 2022.

Thomas previously named his top-12 schools — Kansas State, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, Auburn, Tennessee, UConn, Pittsburgh, Michigan, Miami, and Villanova.
