Hood-Schifino was the 2023 Big Ten Freshman of the Year at IU, and just completed his second year in the NBA. He was dealt midseason by the Lakers as part of the blockbuster Luka Doncic/Anthony Davis trade, and when the dust settled he was with the Sixers.
The move gave a healthy Hood-Schifino the best opportunity of his young career. After playing in just two games for 14 total minutes for Los Angeles, Hood-Schifino averaged 23.2 minutes with Sixers over 13 games. He produced 7.8 points, 2.8 assists and 2.0 rebounds while shooting 37.1% overall and 30.4% from three.
