In 1989, IU football legend Anthony Thompson was the first Hoosier to be invited to the Heisman Trophy award ceremony.
36 years later Fernando Mendoza is in New York City as the second Indiana invite.
Thompson sat down for a brief interview with Rick Pizzo of the Big Ten Network to discuss his Heisman experience, and the emergence of Indiana football under head coach Curt Cignetti.
Thompson rushed for 5,299 yards and 67 touchdowns during his time in Bloomington.
