Video: Class of 2020 Trey Galloway Shines at Run-N-Slam

Indiana head coach Archie Miller recently made a trip up to Culver, Ind. to visit with class of 2020 guard Trey Galloway and extend a scholarship offer.

Although Indiana has been watching Galloway for a couple years, the visit and offer were no doubt influenced by Galloway’s improved level of play thus far during AAU competition.

Playing for Indiana Elite (along with fellow IU targets Anthony Leal and Khristian Lander) on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit, the 6-foot-4 Galloway has taken his game to another level, including two weeks ago in Dallas with Miller and other IU coaches in attendance.

Through seven games on the Adidas Gauntlet, Galloway is averaging 19.9 points on 65.5% shooting from the field, including 38% from behind the three-point line.  He has added 5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

Of course Galloway has been an instrumental part of his Culver Academies high school team as well.  The Eagles have appeared in the Class 3A state finals in each of the last two years, including a 2018 state title.

As a junior at Culver Galloway averaged 16.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game and shot 52% from the field.  The one persistent question surrounding his game has been his perimeter jump shot.  Galloway shot just 27% from long range during his junior season but appears to have improved this spring.

With rankings that seem destined to improve significantly over the spring and summer, Galloway is presently the No. 208 player overall in the country in the class of 2020 according to the 247Sports Composite.  He is the No. 5 player in Indiana according to that same service.

Although he holds multiple scholarship offers, IU’s strongest competition appears to be Notre Dame and Michigan.

247Sports gave this assessment of Galloway after his performance over the weekend in Fort Wayne at the Bill Hensley Memorial Run-N-Slam:

“An athletic and tough 6-foot-4 prospect, Galloway is at his best attacking the rim and finishing with athleticism and strength. Also, this weekend Galloway was fairly consistent with his outside shot, and he especially hit numerous shots at key times. As a defender, he is tremendous, and his strength and lateral movement allow him to guard almost anybody on the perimeter.”

Galloway’s highlights from the weekend are below —
