The tip time and television designation for the first high profile game of the Darian DeVries era is set.
Indiana will face Marquette at 1 p.m. ET / Noon CT at the United Center in Chicago on Nov. 9.
The game will be distributed to a national audience on ESPN.
Marquette is one of four high major opponents on the 2025-26 Indiana schedule. The Hoosiers will also play Kansas State, Louisville and Kentucky, along with 20 Big Ten games.
Indiana is 8-2 all-time vs. Marquette. The last meeting came in 2018, when Indiana won 96-73 in Bloomington in what was probably their best performance of that season. Freshman Romeo Langford led IU with 22 points, and Evan Fitzner went 4-of-4 from three.
Indiana has defeated Marquette in two of the previous three neutral site contests, including a pair of NCAA Tournament tilts. The Hoosiers topped the Golden Eagles (75-69) in Nashville on their road to the 1973 Final Four and again (65-56) in Baton Rouge as part of the 1976 undefeated national championship run. The teams also met in the 2001 Great Alaska Shootout where Marquette (50-49) captured the event title under the guidance of future Indiana head coach Tom Crean.
Marquette coach Shaka Smart is entering his fifth season leading the program next year. His top three scorers this season are all seniors.
Smart must replace three critical components to last year’s team: Kam Jones (19.2 PPG), David Joplin (14.2 PPG), and Stevie Mitchell (10.7 PPG). He has not been one to use the transfer portal, and the Golden Eagles have no one incoming via that route this year. Instead, eight contributors return from last year, led by Chase Ross (10.5 PPG) and Ben Gold (7.4 PPG). And Marquette has five incoming freshmen as part of a national top-20 class.
