There is mutual interest between class of 2023 top-50 Louisville forward Kaleb Glenn and IU basketball

Indiana has maintained contact with one of the top prospects in the Midwest through the coaching change.

Class of 2023 forward Kaleb Glenn averaged 20.6 points and 12.6 rebounds per game while shooting 71% from the field as a sophomore at Louisville Male High School. He was named First-Team All-State and a MaxPreps All-American, and his rebounding average led the state of Kentucky for class of 2023 players.

The 6-foot-7 Glenn has been talking to IU going back to last year, but the new staff has made it clear he is high on their priority list.

“Coach Woodson and the coaching staff are very high on me, and they want to get me down for a visit soon and get to know me more and let me get to know them,” Glenn told The Daily Hoosier.

Thus far Glenn has visits set up at Louisville on June 5 and West Virginia on June 12.  Both he and IU would like to add Bloomington to the list of destinations this summer.

“We are working on it.  We’re trying to find a date,” Glenn said of a potential IU visit.

Glenn said one of the reasons he is impressed with Indiana is Mike Woodson’s NBA background.

“He’s been there, done that, where I am trying to get to,” Glenn said.  “He’s coached on the highest level for many years.  That’s a big factor.”

What are some of the other things Glenn is looking for from colleges as he starts to take visits and focus a bit more on recruiting?

“That they make me a priority and build a relationship with all of the coaches, have a home like feel, and just being comfortable with the school and the players and the city in general,” he said.

Growing up in Louisville, the IU program hasn’t been far away, so of course Glenn is aware of it.

“I’ve seen a lot of Indiana basketball,” Glenn said.  “I know they’re a great program and they’ve won a lot since they’ve been a program.  A lot of good players have come through there, a lot of players who are in the league.”

Glenn plays with St. Louis based Brad Beal Elite for travel basketball.

“We have a great group.  We are planning on winning Peach Jam this summer,” Glenn said of his talented squad.

The Daily Hoosier has watched his U16 team on multiple occasions this spring.  Glenn is a uniquely strong and physical player for his age group, and he combines that with plus athleticism which allows him to overwhelm opponents at times.  Glenn is tenacious as a rebounder and on defense, and he has impressive skills for his size including the ability to put the ball on the floor, use his off hand to finish, and he can knock down perimeter shots.

As for his individual game, Glenn has several areas he is working on this spring and summer.

“Mainly tightening up my ball handling, tightening up my shot, getting my form right, getting better on defense too,” he said.
