Indianapolis-based 5-star class of 2027 wideout Monshun Sales is expected to make his college decision this week.
Here’s what you need to know ahead of his announcement.
THE MEASUREMENTS: Sales is 6-foot-5 and around 205 pounds.
WHERE HE’S RANKED: According to the industry averages, Sales is a 5-star, the No. 8 overall player in the class, and the No. 2 receiver.
WHO HE’S CONSIDERING: Sales is believed to be choosing from finalists Indiana, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas and LSU. He took official visits to all five schools over the last three months.
JUNIOR SEASON STATS: Sales had 37 catches for 794 yards and 9 touchdowns on offense. He posted 56 tackles as a safety on defense. Sales helped Lawrence North go 7-3 as a junior in 2025.
WHY HE’S RANKED SO HIGH: Here’s what Rivals’ Charles Power says on Sales profile page at that outlet —
High upside wide receiver prospect with an elite combination of size and speed. Checks in at around 6-foot-4.5, 205 pounds with 32.25-inch arms and 9-inch hands. Posts excellent marks on the track, especially at his size, running 10.81 seconds in the 100 meters and 21.4 seconds in the 200 meters. A vapor trail on vertical routes. Has the potential to take the top off of defenses with regularity. Shows quality tracking skills, locating the football over his shoulder. Competitive as a blocker and physical while working as a safety.
And here’s 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins —
-One of the biggest freakshows in the country with his hulking frame and elite athletic markers.
-X wide receiver projection that can stretch defenses vertically with his speed and make contested grabs on the outside with his size.
-Took the next step as a junior and was nothing but a mismatch.
-Attacks leverage with easy acceleration.
-Powers his way through contact without having to change course.
-Levitates to snag off-target passes.
-Can run underneath the long ball, but also produce big gains in the quick perimeter game with his agility and strength.
-Shines as a move blocker on the perimeter and showcases plenty of physicality while doubling as a safety on defense.
-Must keep improving as a route runner and fine-tuning his craft, but has an extremely high ceiling with his top-end gear and catch radius.
THE NATIONAL PREDICTIONS: Most of the buzz seems to favor IU. Rivals national analysts Greg Smith and Steve Wiltfong have both predicted Sales will commit to Indiana. Those predictions were logged soon after his April official visit to IU. There are no predictions at 247Sports.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: Smith and Wiltfong have stated within the last week IU is still their pick, with the caveat this is a highly competitive recruitment.
WHAT AN INDIANA COMMITMENT WOULD MEAN: Sales would be the highest-rated recruit in program history for Indiana. He has a .9957 grade in the 247Sports Composite. Dasan McCullough is the current best all-time, with a .9701 rating. McCullough was the No. 75 overall player in the 2022 class. IU has never landed a 5-star recruit in the rankings era.
WHEN HE’S ANNOUNCING: Sales is expected to announce his commitment this week. He has previously stated he plans to announced on Friday, July 10.
