After a week to recover from a physical game at Iowa, Indiana is headed back out on the road.
The No. 7 Hoosiers will face No. 2/3 Oregon on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. ET at Autzen Stadium in Eugene (CBS). Both teams are coming off a bye week.
ESPN’s College GameDay pregame show will be on site.
Indiana is 1-2 all-time against Oregon. They won the last meeting 30-24 in 2004. That was IU’s only trip to Eugene.
Oregon is led by 39-year-old head coach Dan Lanning. Now in his fourth season as a head coach, all at Oregon , Lanning is 40-6.
The Ducks (5-0) are averaging 46.6 points per game, good for 6th in the nation, and they are giving up 12.2 a contest, also good for No. 6. Indiana and Oregon are both in the national top-10 in both categories.
PFF grades Oregon as having the No. 10 offense and No. 34 defense in the country.
Oregon’s wins have come over former No. 2 Penn State on the road, 30-24 in overtime, and against Montana State (59-13), Oklahoma State (69-3), at Northwestern (34-14) and Oregon State (41-7).
Oregon has won 18 straight games at home, good for the longest active home winning streak in college football. They are encouraging fans to wear yellow for this game.
It will be a duel between Heisman hopefuls at quarterback.
6-foot-3 and 206-pound Oregon quarterback Dante Moore transferred in from UCLA following the 2023 season. He was a backup for Oregon last season. This year Moore has started every game and he has completed 100 of 134 (74.6%) of his throws for 1,210 yards, with 14 touchdowns and an interception. He has 24 carries for 122 yards. Oregon has only allowed one sack all season.
So what’s the outlook for this Saturday in Eugene? Everything is pointing to the Ducks.
As of Monday morning, the gambling forecast is calling Oregon a 7.5 to 8.5-point favorite.
ESPN’s FPI model gives IU a 30.5% chance to win at Autzen The Hoosiers are No. 4 in FPI while Oregon is No. 2. ESPN’s SP+ model projects a 28-22 Oregon win, and gives them a 65% probability to pull it out.
The early weather forecast for Saturday is calling for a high temperature of 59. It looks like a dreary day with a good chance for rain. Obviously you’ll want to check back on that later in the week.
