Indiana picked up a commitment from former Auburn running back Shaun Shivers on Saturday.

The 5-foot-7 and 189 pound Shivers played in 43 games for the Tigers from 2018 to 2021. He amassed 201 attempts for 1,020 yards and eight touchdowns during his time with Auburn and added 38 receptions for 211 yards.  He also returned 14 kickoffs for 233 yards.

Shivers served primarily as a third down back for Auburn in 2021, but entered the transfer portal in search of a full-time starting role that fits is aggressive downhill style.

“I enjoyed my time on the Plains… Now I look forward to becoming a Hoosier,” Shivers wrote in a Twitter post on Saturday.

He visited Bloomington last weekend and attended the men’s basketball game against Nebraska.

Hailing from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Shivers was an all-purpose back from Chaminade-Madonna Prep where he led the Lions to the Florida Class 3A state championships.  In high school he rushed for more than 6,000 yards and was an ESPN, Rivals, and 247Sports four star.  He was also one of the fastest prep sprinters in the nation, running the 100m in 10.29 and the 200m in 20.81.

Shivers is ranked as the number one athlete and the 17th best player overall in the 247Sports transfer rankings.

With playing time wide open at the running back positions, Shivers will have one year of eligibility remaining with IU as he takes advantage of the extra year of eligibility granted to all players in 2020.
