Indiana and Eastern Illinois tip-off at 3 p.m. ET on Peacock

    ———————————————————————–

    FINAL

    Indiana 87, South Carolina 71

    SECOND HALF

3:44 left and the Hoosiers lead 73-64.

    • This game isn’t quite over yet. Indiana hasn’t had a field goal go down in the last 2:38, and the Gamecocks have made six of their last eight.

7:36 left in the game, Indiana leads 69-55.

    • Hoosiers have had an all-around effort on the stat sheet. Rice has 19, Mgbako has 15, Reneau with 13, and Carlyle with 12.
    • Indiana has also stuck with an eight-man rotation in this game, with Tucker, Galloway, and Goode the only subs.

Indiana leads 59-44 with 11:51 left in the half.

    • Indiana’s defense continues to be stout in this game. Hoosiers are holding the Gamecocks to 36 percent from the field so far.
    • Indiana themselves are shooting 49 percent from the field, and are 7-13 from beyond the arc.

Media timeout hits and Indiana lead 49-37 with 15:34 left.

    • Collin Murray-Boyles just picked up his fourth foul, and he will take a seat.

Hoosiers lead 49-35 with 16:44 left in the game.

    • Kanaan Carlyle might have just had the funniest made basket I have ever seen. He was going for a lob pass to Mgbako and drained it from around mid-court.
    • Reneau has not had the best game on offense, but his defense on Collin Murray-Boyles has been impressive. Murray-Boyles has two points.

    HALFTIME

    Indiana 43, South Carolina 32

    FIRST HALF

Timeout Indiana with 55 seconds left in the half.

    • Ballo has done well with helping off the weak side. He has two blocks, and I think both have been from helping off the dribble drive.

3:35 left in the first half, and Indiana slightly pulling away with a 35-24 lead.

    • Rice has been impressive on both sides of the floor. He’s up to 12 points, which is tied with Mgbako for the leading total.
    • Carlyle just jumped out of the gym on an alley-oop from Rice in transition. He’s also had a nice first half with seven points.

At the under-eight media timeout, Hoosiers still with the 22-17 lead.

    • Both teams are a little stagnant on the offensive side with both backup units in. Just 10 points between the two teams between the media timeouts.
    • Indiana’s defense has forced South Carolina to extend their game beyond the three-point line, which has not been their strong suit so far this season. They have shot 29.7 percent as a team coming into the game, but they’re 4-12 today.

Indiana leads 18-11 with 11:53 left in the first half.

    • Mackenzie Mgbako once again with a fast start on offense. Eight points on 3-3 shooting with a three.
    • Hoosiers once again going with a smaller lineup near the halfway mark of the first half: Galloway, Tucker, Mgbako, Goode, and Reneau.

At the first media timeout, Indiana leads 7-4 with 15:58 left in the half.

    • Hoosiers have been running out in transition well to start. Four of their points have come on the fast break.
    • South Carolina is making an effort to get the ball into the hands of Collin Murray-Boyles early. Reneau is matched up with him on defense.

    PREGAME NOTES

Anthony Leal and Jakai Newton are dressed in street clothes and will not play today.

No changes to the starting lineup: Rice, Carlyle, Mgbako, Reneau, Ballo.
