UPDATE:  Casey reported an offer from Indiana on his Twitter page on Thursday evening.

    The original story follows.

June 15 marks the first day that college coaches can make direct contact with players in the class of 2022.  Prior to Monday, contact could only be initiated by the players or through coaches.

A new class of 2022 name that has emerged today in connection with that process is five-star Illinois based forward A.J. Casey.

Jake Weingarten of Stock Risers was the first to report on Indiana’s interest.

A Chicago native, Casey attended Simeon Career Academy in Illinois before transferring to Tinley Park for his sophomore season.

Casey averaged around 22 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three blocks per game for his 2019-20 campaign.

At 6-foot-8, Casey has a complete game with the ability to score on the block, off the bounce and from the perimeter.  Casey runs the floor well and protects the rim too.  Basically, he has all of the tools that you would expect of a player in the top 25.

For AAU Casey plays for the Chicago based MeanStreets program on the Nike EYBL circuit.  That is the same program that produced current IU guard Armaan Franklin.  Casey is teammates on MeanStreets with Gary’s Jalen Washington, a fellow IU recruiting target.

Casey is ranked No. 24 in the class of 2022 in the latest 247Sports Composite.

Illinois, Purdue, Kansas, and DePaul are some of the programs that have been the most heavily involved with Casey to this point.

Below are several videos of Casey.
