Timeline — Haralson has consistently said he would like to have his recruitment wrapped-up before his senior season begins at La Lumiere.  He’s likely to sign a national letter of intent in November.

Indiana Connections — Indiana offered Haralson before his first high school basketball game.  The full Indiana staff has been heavily involved in his recruitment since.  Good relationships have been developed along the way.  Moreover, Haralson is an Indiana native with family members who have gone to IU.

In eight league games with La Lumiere as a junior, he posted 9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 44% from three.

    RECRUITING SERVICE ASSESSMENTS

    Joe Tipton/On3:

Jalen Haralson is a very versatile player at 6-foot-6. He can act as a point guard when needed and is a skilled passer. The Indiana native has a sturdy, college ready frame. He can heat up quickly and has established himself as one of the top scorers on the circuit.

    Eric Bossi/247Sports:

Haralson is a big and physical guy. He handles the ball well enough to run some offense through him and that is really what he wants to do the most. He calls for the ball often and likes to operate at the top of the key where he finds driving lanes or moves the ball. The opportunity to play point guard is important to him on the next level, but we like him best as versatile jack-of-all trades type that can be moved around from one through three or even play some, gulp, small ball four in a small lineup. Let’s not worry so much about position here and keep in focus that he’s a solid all-around player.

    Rob Cassidy/Rivals:

A long, versatile wing with NBA upside, the 6-foot-8 Jalan Haralson is a true three-level scorer, who shines when it comes to creating shots for himself and finishing through contact. Haralson is an improved ball-handler that gets to his spots with relative ease through his use of brute physicality and athleticism. He also impacts merely every game in which he plays as a rebounder.

    QUOTABLE

Haralson to TDH on how colleges view him positionally:

“They mostly tell me that positions don’t matter. At the end of the day, I’m a complete basketball player, I can play anything from the one to the four. I think that’s my strength. I really don’t have a position. I’m versatile, I can pass, I can handle the ball, I can finish. They kind of tell me, my position is Jalen Haralson, just come in and be me. I don’t hold myself to one position, I’m just a basketball player.”

    ———-

Haralson to TDH on what stands out about IU, and Jalen Hood-Schifino:

“The fan base is crazy. You can’t beat that fan base. It’s very passionate. I think that’s the thing that sticks out the most. And obviously Coach Woodson is an NBA coach and that’s where I want to be. He got me connected with Jalen Hood-Schifino, and me and him talked a couple weeks ago.”

“Yeah, for sure (he sees similarities to his game and Hood-Schifino). Both bigger guards, both know how to get to our spots, and we’re both pretty good defenders. He’s an NBA guard, obviously got drafted by the Lakers, so that’s really good for him.”

    ———

Haralson to TDH on the main factors that will influence his college decision:

“Three things, style of play, relationship with the coaches, and I want to win. That’s the main thing, I want to win. I feel like all nine of my schools have all of those things. So I feel like I’m in a pretty good spot with recruiting.”
