Indiana defeated Maryland Wednesday evening at XFINITY Center in College Park by a final score of 84-66.  It was the first road win of the season for IU.

The three keys to the game, highlights and finals stats are below.

The Hoosiers led at halftime 36-31.  They were led in the game by Lamar Wilkerson with 24 points.  Tayton Conerway added 19, Conor Enright 16, and Reed Bailey 15.

Indiana (12-3, 3-1) will host Nebraska Saturday at Noon ET.

    THREE KEYS TO THE GAME

    1. Second half surge led by Lamar.  With IU clinging to a tenuous 43-40 lead with 17 minutes to go in the second half, Lamar Wilkerson caught fire.  He scored 16 straight points for the Hoosiers over a five minute span, as the IU lead swelled to 59-44.  It was a strong rebound from a rough first half on the offensive end for IU, as the Hoosiers shot just 34.6% on committed six turnovers before halftime.  Conor Enright got things going with a pair of threes in the first three minutes of the half.  Indiana scored 1.41 points per possession in the second half.

    2. Hoosiers on point at the stripe.  While not much was going right for IU on the offensive end before the break, the Hoosiers took a lead into halftime because they scored 16 of their 36 first half points rom the charity stripe.  Indiana was a perfect 16 of 16 from the line in the first half.  Reed Bailey was 6 of 6 and Tayton Conerway was 4 of 4 to lead the way.  For the game IU finished 22 of 26 at the free throw line.

    3. Maryland can’t connect from three.  While Indiana eventually found the range from deep, the Terps weren’t so fortunate on their home court.  Maryland made just 5 of 26 (19.2%) from three.  It was part good defense by Indiana, and part simply just a miserable shooting night for the Terps.  Maryland had 11 turnovers against just seven assists as they struggled to find offensive momentum.  And they made just 5 of 11 free throws in the second half after their own perfect 6 of 6 effort in the first.
