BLOOMINGTON — Indiana defeated Penn State Tuesday evening at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall by a final score of 113-72.

The three keys to the game, highlights and final stats are below.

Indiana led 58-26 at halftime.  The Hoosiers were led in the game by Lamar Wilkerson with 44 points.  Reed Bailey added 18 points, and Tayton Conerway 17.

Indiana (8-2) returns to action on Saturday when the Hoosiers travel to Lexington to take on Kentucky.

    THREE KEYS TO THE GAME

    1. Wilkerson starts hot, stays hot.  Indiana guard Lamar Wilkerson made three 3-pointers in the first 2:31 of the game, and he was just getting warmed up.  He set new career highs with 44 points and 10 3-pointers.  The 44 points marked a new Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall record, and the 10 threes an all-time Indiana record.  And Wilkerson was efficient in getting that production.  He made 16 of 22 shots including 10 of 15 from three.  Wilkerson added four assists and four rebounds.

    2. Elite ball movement returns.  The Hoosiers were back to the high assist numbers we saw earlier in the season.  On the night IU had 30 assists on 42 field goals and committed just 10 turnovers.  And that elite ball movement led to some eye-popping shooting numbers.  Indiana made 42 of 61 (68.9%) shots overall, and 17 of 31 from three (54.8%).

    3. Hoosiers solid on defense too.  Indiana’s lead swelled to as much as 49 points in the second half because the defense was getting stops too.  The Hoosiers led 83-34 with 13:57 left in the game, and PSU still only had 50 with under eight minutes to go before things got leaky at the end.  The Nittany Lions shot 33.3% from the field with 11 turnovers in the first half.
