Darren Harris Signs with Indiana Men’s Basketball

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana head men’s basketball coach Darian DeVries announced the addition of junior-to-be guard Darren Harris to the basketball program on Monday afternoon. Harris, a former top-60 recruit, joins Indiana after two seasons at Duke.

He produced 162 points, 54 rebounds, 20 assists, and 14 steals in 57 career appearances during his two-year run with the Blue Devils. He held a record of 55-2 in games played and posted 13.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per 40 minutes during his career.

A mainstay in the rotation, he appeared in 36 games off the Duke bench. The Blue Devils landed the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Elite Eight. He averaged 3.3 points and 0.8 rebounds in 9.6 minutes per game. Harris shot 36.3% (33-of-91) from the floor, 33.3% (23-of-69) from the 3-point line, and 76.9% (30-of-39) from the free throw line.

Harris appeared in 21 games off the Duke bench, a team that advanced to the Final Four and featured five NBA Draft picks, which included three in the top-10 of the first round. He averaged 2.0 points and 1.1 rebounds in 6.0 minutes per game.

He was a consensus four-star, top-60 prospect according to 247Sports and ESPN at St. Paul VI Catholic High School. Harris was named 2023-24 Gatorade Virginia Player of the Year after he averaged 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. He led St. Paul VI to a 33-2 record and both conference (WCAC) and state (VISAA) championships as a senior. He also helped Team Takeover to eight wins at the EYBL Peach Jam and averaged 14.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.
