IU basketball center Kel’el Ware remains uncertain for Iowa, rest of team healthy

Indiana center Kel’el Ware will be a gameday decision when the Hoosiers host Iowa Tuesday (7 p.m. ET/BTN).

IU radio voice Don Fischer asked coach Mike Woodson about Ware’s status during their live radio show on Monday evening.

He appears to be trending favorably, and barring any setbacks should play.

“We’ll know more tomorrow (Tuesday), he’s getting evaluated,” Woodson told Fischer.  “He did some things on the floor today (Monday), but we’ll know more tomorrow when he comes in.  We’ll make sure he’s not puffy and sore.”

Ware sprained his ankle at practice prior to the Jan. 19 game at Wisconsin when he landed on the foot of a teammate.

He wore a walking boot during the Wisconsin game, but was out of the boot and not walking with a noticeable limp at Illinois Saturday.

Ware is averaging 14.2 points and 9.4 rebounds for the Hoosiers over 17 games, while shooting 54.5 percent from the field.

Indiana does seem to have dodged a bullet when it comes to sophomore Malik Reneau, who could be seen leaving State Farm Center at Illinois with ice on his lower right leg while walking with a slight limp.

Fischer asked Woodson if anyone else on the team is dealing with an injury going into the Iowa game.

“We’re pretty healthy besides the big fella (Ware),” Woodson said.

Given Reneau’s condition on Saturday evening, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Indiana lists him as questionable for the Iowa game.
