As a sophomore in 2024, Ponds was rated the top cornerback in the Big Ten and No. 9 in Power 4 (84.2) per Pro Football Focus. He earned All-American honors from multiple media outlets and was first team All-Big Ten.
Ponds and the Hoosiers open the 2024 season on Aug. 30 against Old Dominion.
