BLOOMINGTON — After IU women’s basketball’s season-opener against Brown on Monday, head coach Teri Moren expressed frustration with her team’s lack of discipline.  There were issues on both ends of the floor, but one aspect Moren wasn’t pleased with was IU’s 18 turnovers. Moren ended her postgame press conference by warning that if her team didn’t tune things up offensively, opponents would take advantage.  Unfortunately for the Hoosiers, that rude awakening came much quicker than expected. BLOOMINGTON – Indiana moved past Brown in their season opener with a final score of 82-60 on Monday night, but not without some trouble. The Hoosiers, who were favored by 33.5 points heading into the game against the Bears, were expected to handle business throughout. Instead, Indiana struggled on both ends of the floor throughout the night, and didn’t dominate the way many expected. Just over two years ago, Indiana’s offensive line was in a very bad place. The team, then led by Tom Allen, had just fired the unit’s coach Darren Hiller after Indiana accumulated just 29 yards in the second half of a 31-10 homecoming loss against Michigan.  They gave up seven sacks in that game alone. BLOOMINGTON – Quarterback Kurtis Rourke suffered a hand injury at the tail end of the first half of Indiana’s game against Nebraska on Saturday, and was ruled out for the second half. Rourke was seen getting treatment on his throwing hand after Indiana’s touchdown drive late in the second quarter to take a 28-7 lead over Nebraska at that time. EVANSTON, Ill. – In an away game that saw Indiana fans pack Northwestern’s temporary lakeside venue, the Hoosiers earned a 41-24 road trip victory against Northwestern on Saturday to move to 6-0 and clinch a bowl game appearance for the first time since 2020. During the offseason, Indiana’s defense went through a lot of roster turnover that left many wondering how the group would look by week one. The only things to go off were players’ 2023 stats and any noteworthy team performances Defensive Coordinator Bryant Haines and JMU delivered last season. Fast forward to two weeks into the 2024 campaign, and Indiana’s defense looks like it could define the team’s performance for the rest of the season.
