Curt Cignetti said when he was hired he planned to “wage a tenacious battle against complacency.” From the Nick Saban school of coaching, Cignetti isn’t one to go overboard with compliments. You’re either getting better or worse each day, never staying the same, he says. And as a former quarterback himself, Cignetti watches the position with an especially critical eye. But on an appearance this week with Rhett Lewis on Under the Hood, Cignetti was effusive in his praise for Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke. And how could he not be happy with the two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the…

Former IU basketball player Miller Kopp is trending towards another season in the NBA G League. On Tuesday the Oklahoma City Thunder announced they’ve signed the 25-year-old to their training camp roster. Kopp played the 2023-24 season for the Oklahoma City Blue in the NBA’s G League, and this latest deal secures the franchise’s rights to sign Kopp to another deal with the Blue. That team won the league title last season with Kopp averaging 6.3 points and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 31.1 percent from three. Kopp was with the NBA franchise in July for the Summer League and played…
There were no real surprises as class of 2025 center Eric Reibe narrowed his list of schools to five. The 7-footer told multiple outlets on Tuesday he’ll focus on Indiana, Kansas, Connecticut, Creighton and Oregon to wrap-up his recruitment. Reibe just completed his final official visit to Oregon over the weekend. A product of Germany who attends Bullis School in Potomac, Md., Reibe is expected to announce a college decision this month. According to multiple reports, IU coach Mike Woodson is visiting Reibe on Wednesday. Reibe visited Indiana a couple weeks ago along with fellow IU target Braylon Mullins, and…
If there’s one constant missing from IU basketball since their last Big Ten title, the lack of a verbal alpha leader might just be it. It’s at least one aspect of the program that’s seemingly been in short supply more often than not. Yogi Ferrell was the unquestioned leader of the 2015-16 Hoosiers, and at times he seemed to pull that whole team along with him. But since then, player after player have told us at this very time of year, they are more of a lead-by-example kind of guy. We’d hear those quotes and wonder if it mattered to…
The marquee matchup involving Indiana and Nebraska will kick at Noon ET on Oct. 19 and air nationally on FOX. Although no formal announcement has been made, there appears to be a good chance FOX will bring its Big Noon Kickoff show to Bloomington for the second time in three years. The game is the focal point of a full weekend at IU that also includes Homecoming, and Hoosier Hysteria for the basketball programs. Both No. 18/20 Indiana (6-0) and Nebraska (5-1) are on bye this week ahead of their meeting at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington. Nebraska has wins over…
Indiana fans won’t have to wait much longer to learn Braylon Mullins’ college destination. The in-state class of 2025 top-25 shooting guard will announce his commitment in just over two weeks — on October 23. The 6-foot-5 Mullins will pick either IU, Connecticut or Nort Carolina. According to the On3 Average, Mullins is a 4-star, the No. 22 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 6 shooting guard. Mullins will announce his decision live on the national 247Sports YouTube channel at 6 p.m. ET. Just over a week ago, Mullins’ father told The Daily Hoosier the current thinking…
Indiana’s offense continued it’s dominant start to the 2024 season with another 40-point, 500-yard performance. Several Hoosiers had standout games on the offensive side of the football during their 41-24 win in Evanston. Below we took a look at PFF grades, notes and snap counts from the contest. Through six games, Indiana’s overall PFF grade is No. 3 in the nation, behind only Ohio State and Miami (Fla.). Their overall offense is second, and their overall defense is 14th. Next up for Indiana (6-0) is PFF No. 29 Nebraska (5-1) on Oct. 19. Both teams have a bye next week.…
Just six games into his Indiana tenure, Curt Cignetti has already matched or exceeded the best full season win totals of 23 of the 29 Indiana head coaches who preceded him. In November, Cignetti signed a six-year deal worth an initial average of $4.5 million per year, and win number six triggered an extension and significant bonuses in his contract. Indiana is now bowl eligible, and that brings Cignetti a one-year extension, a $250,000 pay increase, and a $500,000 increase to the budget for football staff personnel — meaning for assistants and support staff, to be distributed at Cignetti’s discretion.…
Indiana’s ascent in the national polls continued on Sunday following their perfect first half of the 2024 season. In the new coaches poll released on Sunday afternoon, the Hoosiers (6-0) moved up four spots to No. 20. The Hoosiers are joined from the Big Ten by fellow undefeated squads Ohio State (2), Oregon (3) and Penn State (5). Indiana moved one spot ahead of Michigan (21). Illinois rounds out the ranked Big Ten teams at No. 23. In the new AP Top-25, Indiana is now No. 18, reflecting a five spot improvement. All of the same Big Ten teams are…
