When we last wrote about the recruitment of class of 2019 forward Trayce Jackson-Davis, we cautioned that Hoosier fans would need to exercise some patience. That was two months ago. We may need to take our own advice, because this is turning into a bit more than what we expected. It had been previously rumored that new high profile programs were expressing interest in the Greenwood, Indiana product. In a recent Rivals article, Jackson-Davis made it clear that North Carolina is one of those programs. “Yes, Coach Williams has told me about their offense and that they watched me and they…

UPDATE: This story has taken a new twist on Friday. So much for the concern that the Dallas Mavericks were crowding out Yogi Ferrell. After drafting point guards in each of the last two seasons, the Mavericks nevertheless will reportedly maintain their commitment to Indiana University all-time assist leader Yogi Ferrell. https://twitter.com/TheSteinLine/status/1019985033887707136 Dallas had rescinded their $2.9 million qualifying offer to Ferrell two weeks ago, making him an unrestricted free agent. At the time, various reports indicated that the team considered the qualifying offer “a placeholder” as the team worked to re-sign Ferrell. Ferrell joined Dallas as a D-League call-up…
Indiana University football wide receiver Nick Westbrook had a huge 2016 season. Westbrook was one of three Big Ten Conference receivers that were included on the 2018 Biletnikoff Award preseason watch list that was released on Thursday. The other two Big Ten receivers are both from Nebraska — Stanley Morgan, Jr. and JD Spielman. The Florida native caught 54 passes for 995 yards and six touchdowns in 2016. He led the team…

Sports press conferences are notoriously void of any real substance. You can usually anticipate the “we just need to take it one game at a time” before the words are uttered. Former Indiana University forward Collin Hartman, who had a memorable career with IU, was just like every other athlete playing a major sport in that regard. After a forgettable blowout loss lost year against Fort Wayne, Hartman and the others who met with the media said “we didn’t come out ready” in about twelve different ways as they waited to be released from the podium. You can’t blame the…

It was no secret that the Indiana University basketball coaching staff wanted D.J. Carton in a big way. It is also no secret that in high-level recruiting wars you miss more times than you hit. It is time to move on. With up to a four player recruiting class for 2019, IU is most likely looking to sign at least two guards in the group. Despite having a true point in the 2018 class, Archie Miller seems intent on adding another to the 2019 class. That doesn’t reflect any concerns about Rob Phinisee. He is going to be a key…
