During the offseason we’ll keep you updated on a weekly basis on the news and notes that occur related to the Indiana University football program.  Here are the key notable events from the past week: Ian Thomas Prepares for the Senior Bowl The Senior Bowl is Saturday and Ian Thomas has been practicing all week.  Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst gave the following favorable reviews: Tuesday: Top tight-end performance from the North on Day 1. Looked very sound fundamentally — he breaks down well, bends his knees and stays square as a blocker. Better-than-expected blocking strength. Had one bad drop…

Back in November when Indiana hosted Duke many were shocked to see the Hoosiers as such a big underdog at home.  IU fans may need to sit down, because we suspect that they will see an even bigger point spread over the next couple days when the Purdue line comes out.  We are by no means betting experts (if there even is such a thing), but we’d expect that Purdue might be a double digit favorite. So that got us thinking — what is IU’s track record as a big home underdog?  We went back to 2001 and looked for…

It’s an unguarded shot 15 feet away from the basket that college players have attempted thousands of times.  On Wednesday night for IU, it looked like a halftime half court contest.  IU missed 13 free throws on the night and lost by two points.  You really don’t need to know much more than that.  It was a bad time to give one away to a conference bottom feeder.  The Hoosiers are about to begin their most difficult 3 game stretch of the season.  It starts with Purdue on Sunday.  IU loses this one, 73-71. Overall:  C+  It was a game that…

Let’s face it, it’s been a tough season thus far for the Indiana women’s basketball team.  At 9-12 overall and 2-6 in the Big Ten, any postseason aspirations for the Hoosiers seem like a long shot at this point.  Coming into the year the expectations were not necessarily sky high, but most experts had the Hoosiers doing better than what they’ve shown us thus far. It hasn’t been all bad either.  There have been some major highs, like senior guard Tyra Buss becoming the program’s all-time leading scorer.  They were dominant in a home win over arch-rival Purdue.  This week…

It’s been more than a month since Fort Wayne came to Bloomington and pummeled Indiana.  More than two months since Indiana State showed Fort Wayne the template.  Since then Indiana has gotten better, pulled out some decent conference wins, and currently sits at a respectable 5-3 in the Big Ten.  Typically, fifth place in the Big Ten is pretty much a lock for the NCAA tournament. But those two in-state losses.  Choose your cliche.  They are the elephants in the room.  They stick out like a sore thumb.  Or there’s this: Let’s be clear, it isn’t like IU just had…
