It is the final piece of the 2018-19 Indiana basketball season puzzle. If he stays, the season looks quite promising. If he goes, there might be more questions than answers. Several announcements have been coming out over the last few days regarding various decisions vis-a-vis the NBA Draft. IU’s Second Team All Big Ten forward Juwan Morgan has until May 30th to decide whether he will forego his senior season and pursue professional basketball. Multiple reports have indicated that Morgan has had workouts with NBA teams. These workouts can take on a lot of different looks on a team-by-team basis,…

The updated 2019 Top247 rankings were released Thursday by 247Sports. We’ve said it before and it bears repeating — Archie Miller is going “all-in” on his class of 2019. Based on the updated ratings it is once again clear that Indiana is focusing its recruiting at the highest levels. We believe that Indiana is in legitimate contention for at least eight 5-star rated players in the class, and the top 11 players that it is pursuing are all in the Top 100. While in years past the Hoosiers have had to dip into the lower rated and even unrated groups, that doesn’t…
Back in August of 2015, Indiana University donor Mickey Mauer contacted Louisville Athletics Department personnel via e-mail. That e-mail was first channeled through the IU Athletic Department, and its content alerted Louisville of a scandal involving its basketball program. That scandal, involving the Louisville basketball program’s use of strippers and prostitutes to entice recruits, resulted in significant ridicule and shaming of its head coach Rick Pitino. The scandal broke in October 2015 when Katina Powell, an escort that was central to the matter, wrote a book detailing her relationship with the Louisville basketball program. In the book she alleged that…

Based on multiple reports, Indiana will host Marquette on November 14th in the first week of the 2018-19 basketball season. The contest will be part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games, which is an annual eight game series played between the Big Ten Conference and the Big East Conference to tip-off the college basketball season. The series is named in honor of the late Dave Gavitt, former athletic director at Providence College and the first commissioner of the Big East Conference. Marquette is led by head coach Steve Wojciechowski, who will be entering his 5th season at the helm of the Golden Eagles. The former Duke star has a 73-58 record…
Another year, and another 5-star player in the state of Indiana is attracting all of college basketball’s blue bloods. With a limited time frame, Archie Miller, Ed Schilling and the rest of the Hoosier coaching staff worked miracles to get Romeo Langford to stay in-state and come to Bloomington. Now Keion Brooks, Jr. a small forward in the Class of 2019 from Fort Wayne, has a growing offer list that includes the best of the best. Brooks is ranked as the No. 16 overall player and 5th best small forward in the Class of 2019 according to 247Sports. Both of those…
Over the last few weeks, Hoosier Nation has shifted from hoping that one of the best high school players in the history of the state of Indiana would “stay home”, to dreaming about what he might be able to accomplish in Bloomington. Some will say that Romeo Langford is just one guy, and he will likely only be on Indiana’s campus for months, not years. How much can he really accomplish? Others will say that he is a once-in-a-generation talent. Even if he is a so-called one-and-done, he will have one big year and create momentum for the future. How…

It was a hot college basketball recruiting story in the summer of 2017. Fellow 5-star targets Zion Williamson and Immanual Quickley were known to be good friends, and rumored to be considering going to the same school as a so-called “package deal”. And then Williamson said this: “There’s a lot of truth to that,” he said. “Me and Immanuel are good friends. … I just love the way he plays point guard. That’s the type of point guard I want to play with.” And Quickley said this: “That was what we talked about after the game. “He said he was…
