At some point things had to start improving as it relates to the depth on the Indiana basketball roster.  Perhaps that time is now. IU head basketball coach Archie Miller told reporters on Friday afternoon that junior guard Devonte Green was “full go” at practice on Thursday and will return to action on Saturday night when the Hoosiers face Michigan State in East Lansing. Green did not travel with the team to Northwestern last week at which time the school released the following brief statement: “Indiana University junior Devonte Green, a member of the men’s basketball team, has been suspended…

And you thought a 20-2 start against Michigan was bad?  You should have known it could get worse. How about a 22-0 run by Rutgers.  Rutgers!  The Scarlet Knight rally, which spanned both halves, completely changed the game — as runs of that magnitude typically do. We had to know — how exactly can that happen? With 3:58 remaining in the first half, Al Durham attacked the rim and made a layup to extend Indiana’s lead to 29-19.  Energetic and crisp, the Hoosiers looked to be on their way to ending a six game losing streak. And then it happened. …

As you have likely heard by now, IU freshman guard Romeo Langford and Purdue freshman receiver Rondale Moore are close friends.  At one point they lived five houses away from each other and they were teammates on New Albany’s 2016 state championship team. To make that aspect of the story more interesting, New Albany won that state title game against McCutcheon and fellow IU freshman guard Rob Phinisee. The Big Ten recently profiled Langford and Moore on “The Journey” in connection with the recent IU vs. Purdue game at West Lafayette.  You can watch below.  The segment is broken into two…

This must be what rock bottom feels like. Losers of seven in a row, this IU skid is the longest such run of ineptitude for Indiana since the 2010-11 season.  That was the final season of the Tom Crean rebuilding effort. It isn’t clear where we are in the Archie Miller rebuild, but with the expectations much higher than they were eight years ago, this collapse is a tougher pill to swallow. The challenge is going to get much more difficult before it gets “easier.” Indiana (12-9, 3-7) returns to action for a Saturday night ESPN Gameday prime time tilt…

Even for those optimistic few that were still clinging to hope, there was a certain reality that hit home on Wednesday night as Indiana allowed a 10 point lead to turn into a 14 point deficit in a relatively brief sequence spanning the first and second halves. The big run by Rutgers was nothing new for this Indiana team.  But the fact that it was against the Scarlet Knights and the seventh such game in a row for the Hoosiers forces you to accept that whatever the reason, this season is a lost cause. We suppose that an unrelenting optimist…

Periodically during the Indiana football offseason we will update you on the news and notes involving the IU football program.  Of course if there is major news we will provide that in real-time. Here’s the latest with the Hoosiers. INTRODUCING KALEN DEBOER Tom Allen introduced IU’s new offensive coordinator Kalen DeBoer on Friday.  This is what the new playcaller said about his offensive philosophy: “Yeah, well, it’s going to be all revolved around what it takes to win, first of all, and there’s a fine line between excitement, right, and putting people in the stands and getting people excited about…

When the season began Rutgers was a near consensus last place prediction in the Big Ten. Now Indiana goes to Piscataway in late January in desperate need of a win….and they are just a one point favorite.  Worse yet, even that one point feels a little suspect.  This is what it has come to as IU tries to snap a six game losing streak on Wednesday night in New Jersey. Can you call this game a must win?  It’s impossible to know that right now, but with a trip to East Lansing looming next, it sure feels like it. Here’s…

Something different today — we take a satirical look at the current state of IU basketball. Yes, yes we know how that headline can be read. Honestly, with the way things are going right now, there is truth in either way you want to interpret it. Things have gotten nasty in Bloomington, and big blowout inducing runs have been the culprit.  The runs are a manifestation of everything that is wrong with this IU team right now, but if you had to distill it down to one word — they stink. Indiana head coach Archie Miller said that this team…
