If there was a quarterback controversy brewing in Bloomington, it ended abruptly on Saturday afternoon. In his weekly Monday media availability, Indiana University head football coach Tom Allen indicated that true freshman quarterback Michael Penix tore his ACL on Saturday against Penn State. Penix saw his first action of the season against Penn State since the Ball State game.  For the game he went 9 for 19 passing for 94 yards.  He added 24 rushing yards on two carries and suffered the knee injury on one of those attempts. On the season Penix went 21 of 34 on passing attempts…

As Indiana took a 21-20 lead over No. 18 Penn State late in the third quarter yesterday, Indiana fans had good reason to be excited.  After a less than inspiring effort the week before against Iowa, this Hoosier football team had clearly not quit on head coach Tom Allen and this 2018 season. If that enthusiasm for the tenuous lead over the Nittany Lions was peppered with a heavy dose of apprehension, there is certainly historical justification for it.  As we saw just moments later when Penn State returned the ensuing kickoff 95 yards, any such doubts were surely warranted.…

The Hoosiers find themselves on a two game losing streak for the first time this year and risk slipping back to .500 after a 4-1 start.  It’s a familiar story for Indiana fans, as the brutal Big Ten East schedule strikes again. Some members of this IU team carry the memory of taking a lead into the fourth quarter against Penn State the last time the Nittany Lions visited Bloomington in 2016.  Whether that provides confidence or not, the…
