Indiana football head coach Tom Allen met with the media on Wednesday to provide a spring practice update.  The Hoosiers began their 15 spring practice series on March 9 and will continue through April 10. Indiana concludes spring practice this weekend.  The program is not holding a spring game available to the public. The Hoosiers will open the 2021 season on Sept. 4 at Iowa. Tom Izzo isn’t known for handling losses well.  Few college basketball coaches are. But he was all class on Monday when the news broke that he lost his ten year assistant coach Dane Fife to Indiana. New Indiana head coach Mike Woodson is on a roll. Freshman forward Jordan Geronimo is the third IU player to announce he is pulling his name out of the transfer portal to remain with the Hoosiers. Geronimo, who many expected to leave the program when he put his name in the portal two weeks ago, announced the news on his Twitter page on Monday afternoon. “I believe in Coach Woodson.  Let’s get to work,” Geronimo said in a graphic attached to his Twitter post. Indiana freshman point guard Khristian Lander is staying with Indiana, he announced on Monday afternoon. The 6-foot-2 point guard put his name in the transfer portal in March after Archie Miller was fired, and indicated that he wanted to meet with new head coach Mike Woodson prior to deciding whether to stay in Bloomington. “After much thought with Coach Woodson and my family, I feel it is in my best interest to continue my basketball and academic career with Indiana,” Lander said in a statement on his Twitter page. “I want to be one of the reasons Indiana basketball gets…

Former IU player Dane Fife will become an assistant coach at Indiana under Mike Woodson. The Daily Hoosier is able to confirm a report by CBS 4’s JoJo Gentry that the former IU guard will become a member of Woodson’s first staff. The retention of assistant coach Kenya Hunter gives Indiana a strong recruiting presence in the Washington D.C. / Baltimore metropolitan area, and that has no doubt played a role in IU reaching out to one of the best shooters in the transfer portal.
