The Daily Hoosier spent the week in The Bahamas in connection with IU basketball’s foreign tour and had several opportunities to see the team in action. Since nothing was televised and not everything was public, we are going to go player-by-player in jersey number order to share our thoughts on what we saw and what to expect from Indiana’s 2021-22 roster. Let’s just say it — Tamar Bates is special. And there is much more to him than just athleticism or basketball skill — both of which he has in abundance. When it comes to the ten IU players who…

The Daily Hoosier is previewing each position group during the final days leading up to the opening kickoff of the 2021 Indiana football season on Sept. 4 against Iowa. Today we take a look at the linebackers and bulls. For the first time in the Tom Allen era, Indiana has outside linebackers listed on its roster. Indiana tinkered with the bull position in 2020 and appears ready to feature that role this year. In essence the bull is like what IU is calling them — an outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme. They will be in a standing position on…
Louisville based class of 2023 forward Kaleb Glenn is moving his recruitment along at a good clip. A top-50 four-star prospect in the junior class, Glenn is down to Indiana, Louisville, Texas A&M and Tennessee according to a report by Joe Tipton of On3. Glenn is ranked the No. 41 player in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite. He previously took an unofficial visit to IU in June. The 6-foot-7 Glenn attends Louisville Male High School where he averaged 20.6 points and 12.6 rebounds per game while shooting 71% from the field as a sophomore. He plays for…
He’s been too heavy and too light. There have been injury rehabilitations and an off the field issue. Some have said he wasn’t a good enough blocker, and there have at times been drops. Reading that you might suspect we are talking about a hyped recruit who never reached his potential. But no, Peyton Hendershot ranks second on Indiana’s tight ends career list with 10 touchdowns, and he sits third with 90 receptions and 936 yards. Despite his accomplishments to date, there is a renewed level of confidence emanating from Hendershot and his position coach Kevin Wright. And that is…

The Daily Hoosier spent the week down in The Bahamas in connection with IU basketball’s foreign tour and had several opportunities to see the team in action. Since nothing was televised and not everything was public, we are going to go player-by-player in jersey number order to share our thoughts on what we saw and what to expect from Indiana’s 2021-22 roster. With a lot of new players on the 2021-22 roster, one of many things IU basketball fans were curious about when it came to the foreign tour was the starting lineup. Before the trip head coach Mike Woodson…
It wasn’t long ago, 102 days to be precise, Indiana suffered a national championship overtime loss to Marshall at the College Cup. Wherever head coach Todd Yeagley and his players are in processing that defeat, it is time to press on. “This season came at a nice clip quicker than usual,” Yeagley said as his team opened practice a couple weeks ago. While the span of the offseason has been abbreviated, IU has seen its share of departures over the last few months along with plenty of new faces on the roster. That reality has helped make it feel like…
Thomas Allen got a preview of life after football — and discovered he wasn’t quite ready for that. But it was a decision that didn’t come easy. During a season filled with historic high points, one memorable 2020 low stands out above the rest at the Allen household. With his son on lying on the field clearly in agonizing pain at Michigan State, IU head coach Tom Allen looked on helplessly. The trainers had the diagnosis right away, and after father and son embraced just before Thomas was taken away for medical attention in the locker room at Spartan Stadium,…
Nothing has been formally announced, but former 5-star recruit and USC running back Stephen Carr appears likely to be Indiana’s starting running back when it opens the season at Iowa on Sept. 4. Watch below as he talks about fall camp, the running back competition, his transition from California, and much more. On Thursday his running backs coach Deland McCullough described Carr. “His strengths are he is very explosive, his change of direction is high-end, his ability to make people miss, he runs with power, he runs with decisiveness,” McCullough said. “His pass protection is where I want it to…
