Indiana basketball head coach Mike Woodson joined Illinois’ Brad Underwood and Nebraska’s Fred Hoiberg on the Big Ten Network’s Coaches Chat with Andy Katz. Woodson and his fellow Big Ten coaches talked about a return to normalcy in college basketball, the broader changes in the game, and their expectations for their respective teams in 2021-22. No part of Indiana’s team has been more impacted by early season injuries than the defensive backfield. Indiana quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. has an “AC separation” and his status is week-to-week as he goes through rehab, Indiana head coach Tom Allen said on Monday morning. Penix suffered the acromioclavicular joint injury to his throwing shoulder on Saturday night at Penn State when he scrambled out of the pocket and landed on hard on his left side after being hit on the run. Indiana’s depth got even thinner at running back after sophomore Tim Baldwin, Jr. placed his name in the transfer portal. National recruiting site Rivals appeared to be the first to report the news on Monday morning, and 247Sports soon followed.  Indiana head coach Tom Allen confirmed the reports at a Monday morning press conference. “He’ll no longer be part of our football team,” Allen said. Indiana’s offense was a no show on Saturday night at Penn State, and now the Hoosiers head into their bye week with far more questions than the answers they should have five games into a season. Indiana players Micah McFadden, Cam Jones and Ty Fryfogle met with the media after a 24-0 loss at Penn State on Saturday evening.
