A year ago Zach Carpenter looked across the field to the Indiana sideline and admired the culture that had been built in Bloomington. Now he’ll be looking across the field from the IU sideline, back at his old teammates. Former Indiana star OG Anunoby set a career-high on Monday night with a 36 point outburst in New York. The 24-year-old added six rebounds, two assists and a steal for Toronto.  He took a season-high 27 field goal attempts and another season-high with seven free-throws.  Anunoby made 13-of-27 shots overall including 4-of-12 3-pointers. Yes, it undoubtedly stings to lose out on a rising talent like Noah Clowney.  The 6-foot-10 South Carolina based forward announced his commitment to Alabama on Monday afternoon.  Long, athletic and versatile, Clowney looked like a good fit for IU’s style of play and his size and skillset the right final piece to the class of 2022 puzzle for the Hoosiers. With some lighter competition on the schedule and Michael Durr’s early-season status up in the air, true freshman big man Logan Duncomb should see the floor very early in his Indiana career. Although he originally committed to play for Archie Miller at IU, the 6-foot-9 and 234 pound Duncomb wasted little time confirming his continuing commitment to the Hoosiers after Mike Woodson was hired as the head coach. IU basketball class of 2023 point guard target Gabe Cupps is down to three schools he announced on Sunday. A quick look at the rosters of some of the title contenders in the Big Ten tell a frightening Halloween story. Michigan’s Hunter Dickinson is 7-foot-1, 260 pounds.  Purdue’s Zach Edey is 7-foot-4 and 295 pounds, and he dwarfs their other massive big man, 6-foot-10 and 255 pound Trevion Williams.  Illinois’ Kofi Cockburn is 7-foot, 285 pounds.  They all should figure prominently in the 2021-22 league race.
