Indiana is continuing its push for one of the top in-state players in the class of 2023. Indianapolis Cathedral High School forward Xavier Booker will take an official visit to Bloomington in a couple weeks The Daily Hoosier reported first through a source.  Booker confirmed with The Daily Hoosier the visit is from Oct. 21 through the weekend.  IU football hosts Ohio State that weekend. JQ Roberts has already built a reputation for his work ethic, and even a major milestone in his life achieved on Wednesday night didn’t disrupt his focus. Just hours after his first college high major scholarship offer, he was up at the crack of dawn and ready to grind. He returned a message to me at five in the morning. “Yes sir, I had a workout in the morning and then we are on our way to a visit,” Roberts told The Daily Hoosier. That first high major offer for Roberts came from a program he knows well.  The Bloomington,…

Right or wrong, connections will be made between the careers of Michigan head coach Juwan Howard and IU’s Mike Woodson. The parallels are obvious, with Howard a former Wolverine player who, like Woodson, returned to lead his alma mater after a lengthy NBA playing and coaching career. Howard was asked on Thursday at the Big Ten’s basketball media day about the adjustment going from the professional ranks to college. “The first thing I learned when I came from NBA to the college level was getting to know everyone in the building, know the names of the managers, getting to know…

Cupps has taken three unofficial visits to Indiana over the last two months, including one with Sheppard in August, and on Saturday night at Hoosier Hysteria.  And he has another visit planned next week. The Daily Hoosier caught up…

Could Indiana have two Bloomington-based players on its 2023-24 roster? That possibility increased on Wednesday when the IU coaching staff visited Bloomington North High School junior forward J.Q. Roberts at his school’s open gym and extended a scholarship offer. Roberts reported the offer on his Twitter page. https://twitter.com/JQ_co2023/status/1445906096871276547?s=20 Roberts averaged 11.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for the 2020-21 campaign at North.  And those are numbers likely to see a big boost in the upcoming campaign.  He surged over the summer for Adidas sponsored Indiana Elite, including 40 and 35 point outbursts in the final weekend against national high-end…

Indiana fans won’t hear the voice of Dan Dakich calling IU basketball games on ESPN anymore, but at least for those based in Indianapolis, they might be hearing much more from the 1980s IU basketball guard in the future. Dakich recently parted ways with ESPN.  He’ll no longer be calling college basketball games on television, opting instead to add a two hour weekday show on Outkick 360 to his three-hour Indianapolis-based radio show on 107.5 The Fan. But it wasn’t his radio or television gigs that opened Dakich’s eyes to yet another potential job opportunity. As he tours the city…

It doesn’t seem to matter who you ask, most like Indiana basketball to finish right around the middle of the Big Ten in 2021-22. Already at least four well-known annual preseason predictions put the Hoosiers as the No. 7 team in the league for head coach Mike Woodson’s first season. Each of Athlon Sports, Lindy’s, Blue Ribbon and the Big Ten media have the same four teams at the top of the league in slightly different orders — Michigan, Purdue, Ohio State and Illinois.  They all also see Minnesota as the last place team. Change is the new normal in…
