Indiana has across the board questions after a 54-7 beat down against Ohio State, but nowhere are those uncertainties greater than at the quarterback position. Will original starter Michael Penix, Jr. return this year? How serious is Jack Tuttle’s injury suffered against the Buckeyes? And who is even ready to play if Penix and Tuttle can’t go against Maryland on Saturday? One question was answered, and it wasn’t what anyone had hoped for: If freshman 4-star recruit Donaven McCulley is the future at Indiana, the future wasn’t Saturday night. Although Tuttle was injured in the first quarter and Indiana needed…

Strength against strength was a complete mismatch. No. 5 Ohio State’s top-ranked offense steamrolled Indiana on Saturday night in rainy Bloomington. The Buckeyes scored touchdowns on their first six drives of the game and added a safety during that stretch in what was a complete dismantling of IU. The second sellout crowd of the season at Memorial Stadium once again left disappointed. Most of the IU faithful had seen enough by halftime, vanishing into the tunnels never to be seen again as Ohio State amassed a 44-7 advantage at the break. Meanwhile the Buckeyes were cheered as they ran off…
Indiana quarterback Jack Tuttle delivered a perfect throw in the back of the end zone to tight end Peyton Hendershot to cap off the Hoosiers first drive and tie No. 5 Ohio State 7-7 in the first quarter. When Tuttle returned to the game IU was down 30-7 in the second quarter. Tuttle was hit by multiple Buckeyes on the scoring throw and he was down on the field for around a minute before he walked off gingerly under his own power. With Tuttle initially unable to return, third-string true freshman Donaven McCulley filled in, and eventually redshirt sophomore Grant…

If there is a let up on the horizon on Indiana’s schedule, it doesn’t arrive on Saturday. After an early season hiccup against Oregon, Ohio State appears to have returned to its typical dominant form, and the Buckeyes have the look of a team that can win the Big Ten and return to the College Football Playoff. Meanwhile, fueled by a mistake-prone and end zone averse offense, Indiana looks nothing like the 2020 darling that nearly caught OSU from behind in Columbus last year. It will be the Hoosiers and Buckeyes under the lights at Memorial Stadium for a primetime…

The 6-foot-3 Newton is ranked the No. 67 overall player in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 12 combo guard. He is Indiana’s first commit in the 2023 class. At some point not long ago the basketball world started to figure it out. It turns out, you don’t defend, shoot or rebound with your head, and as a result, how far you can reach with your hands is more important than how tall you measure head to toe. Over the last decade NBA and college teams began measuring wingspan as an essential component of their evaluation of draft and recruiting prospects. “It’s legit. It’s much more important than your height,” Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said a few years ago in an AP report. … “I’m a…
Although he was intrigued, class of 2023 guard Jakai Newton didn’t know much about Indiana before his official visit to Bloomington last weekend. Before he left, he had already decided to become IU’s first commit in the high school junior class. And just a few days after concluding that official visit, Newton announced on Friday afternoon he has verbally committed to IU. “I really had my mind made up during the visit,” Newton told The Daily Hoosier on Tuesday evening. “My parents said we should go home and talk about it, and we’re ready now.” It has been a whirlwind…
While many of the IU basketball recruiting prospects who attended Hoosier Hysteria were more locally-based, Jacob Theodosiou trekked a long way to get down to Bloomington for the event. Why did he want to make the nearly six hour journey from Western Reserve Academy in northern Ohio? The class of 2024 guard already has good vibes with Indiana, but more important, he sees a playing style that is a potential good fit. “Indiana was the first school that ever reached out to me, so they hold a soft spot in my heart for that for sure,” Theodosiou told The Daily…
