Indiana suffered its first loss of the Mike Woodson era, and it was a memorable one. After falling behind by as much as 18, the Hoosiers fought back and forced two overtimes before finally falling to Syracuse at the Carrier Dome. Indiana lost to Syracuse by a final score of 112 to 110 in double overtime at the Carrier Dome on Tuesday evening. Syracuse led 49-33 at halftime, the game was tied 88 at the end of regulation, and 97 at the end of the first overtime. Indiana senior linebacker Micah McFadden earned second-team All-Big Ten honors from the league’s coaches and media, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon. McFadden was recognized for the third-straight year after he collected first-team distinction in 2020 and honorable-mention laurels in 2019. Graduate transfer defensive end Ryder Anderson and senior cornerback Jaylin Williams collected honorable-mention recognition from the media. The process of narrowing the roster back down to 85 scholarship players continued on Monday after three now former IU football wide receivers placed their names in the transfer portal. Miles Marshall, Camron Buckley and Jordyn Williams are the latest to announce their intent to look elsewhere for playing time in the 2022 season. It wasn’t why they recruited Xavier Johnson out of the transfer portal, but Indiana knew that he’d add value against whoever they drew in the Big Ten / ACC Challenge this year. Playing on one of, if not the best team in Georgia, Jakai Newton and the Newton Rams are off to a 4-0 start to the 2021-22 campaign.  They are ranked No. 1 in the state’s class 7A. Here are a few quick notes on Newton from his first few contests.
