Good things happen to Keith Smart when he returns home to Louisiana. 35 years ago Smart came to New Orleans as a junior on the IU basketball team and hit the most famous shot in program history to lead the Hoosiers to the 1987 national championship. On Saturday the Baton Rouge product secured his first win at the college level as the interim head coach of Arkansas led the Razorbacks to a road upset of No. 12 LSU. Indiana saw three more players enter the transfer portal this week. None saw significant playing time during their stay in Bloomington. Jordan Jusevitch was a former Indiana Mr. Football finalist in 2017 while playing at Lowell High School. The defensive back appeared in a total of 12 games over four years at IU including six in 2021. Listen as former IU basketball star point guard Michael Lewis joined A.J. Guyton on the House of Hoosier podcast. Lewis is currently an assistant coach at UCLA. When he left Indiana in 2000 Lewis was the program’s all-time assist leader with 545. He added 887 points during his IU career that started in 1996. Indiana formally announced its hiring of Chad Wilt as the program’s new defensive coordinator on Friday afternoon. Indiana was roadkill once again. For the fourth time this season and eighth straight true road game overall, the Hoosiers came up empty away from Bloomington, falling 83-74 in Iowa City.
