For the second time in an excruciating more than three-year journey, Victor Oladipo returned to an NBA court on Monday. The former IU star made his season debut for the Miami Heat almost 11 months after he last made an appearance in the league. Oladipo finished with 11 points and four assists against the Rockets.  His first noteworthy play was of all things, the sacrifice of his body to take a charge. Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis has been named second team All-Big Ten and a member of the league’s five man All-Defensive team. Race Thompson and Xavier Johnson earned honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition.  Thompson was also named Indiana’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award Honoree. This is the third year Jackson-Davis earned post-season honors. He was named to the third team as a freshman and the first team (media) and second team (coaches) after his second season at Indiana. Indiana lost a key member of its class of 2022 this week. 4-star running back Gi’Bran Payne announced on his social media accounts he has been granted a release from his national letter of intent with Indiana, and has reopened his recruitment. Earlier this year former IU running backs coach Deland McCullough announced he was leaving the program to take the same position at Notre Dame.  That may have played a role in Payne’s decision. “As a person (and athlete), I thrive and prosper off of communication and genuine relationships,” Payne wrote in his statement announcing the release. “With that…

As a high school freshman the 6-foot-7 Sisley averaged 19.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.3 blocks, 1.1 steals and 3.8 turnovers per game. The southern Indiana product shot 57 percent from the field overall, 40 percent from 3-point range on 52 attempts, and 76 percent from the free throw line. After venturing deep into the quarterback depth chart during the 2021 season, Indiana has a luxury of riches at spring practice. The Hoosiers saw four different players start games behind center during a tumultuous campaign last fall, and a fifth was injured before the season began. Indiana will get a chance to avenge one of its worst losses of the season on Thursday. The Hoosiers have drawn Michigan in the 8/9 game of the Big Ten Tournament.  That contest tips at 11:30 a.m. Eastern on Thursday morning at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and will be televised by the Big Ten Network. Indiana lost to Iowa in the Big Ten Tournament championship game by a final score of 74-67 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Hoosiers were led by Grace Berger with 20 points.  Nicole Cardano-Hillary added 19 for the Hoosiers.  IU made just 4-of-19 (21.1 percent) from behind the 3-point line for the game and 37.7 percent overall as their offense struggled to establish momentum for most of the game. It is redemption Sunday in Indianapolis. IU women’s basketball head coach Teri Moren was less than pleased with the way the Big Ten plugged make-up games into her team’s schedule in late February.  One of the results was two games against Iowa in three days.  Indiana lost both contests, and that cost them the Big Ten regular season title.
