“I feel like the only thing that could really prepare you for college basketball is college basketball,” IU guard Tamar Bates said on Thursday, describing the trial-by-fire nature of the game. But there were times during his first year as a college athlete where basketball was the easy part. Bates lost a close family member during the 2021-22 campaign, and before it even started he learned he would become a father right around the time his first college season ended. It was a lot to take on for an at the time 18 year-old. But the real life altering stuff…
Dylan Harper stood at the free throw line, his New York Renaissance team down a point with just a few seconds remaining last Friday. A trip to the Peach Jam semifinals was now in his hands. It would be two shots for Harper, who was just 1-of-3 from the stripe to that point in the game. Harper earned the trip to the line with an aggressive, yet skillful attack off the dribble. While his talents on the court are many, you might say that aspect of his game — getting to the rim and finishing — is the greatest strength…
Indiana has entered the mix for fast-rising in-state class of 2024 big man Flory Bidunga. The Hoosiers offered the 6-foot-9 and 215-pound center on Wednesday afternoon according to his AAU program. While we say “in-state” it is likely best to not think of Bidunga that way. While he attends Kokomo H.S. (Kokomo, Ind.), he has only been in the United State since 2021. The Democratic Republic of the Congo product attends the northern Indiana school as part of an international program. He averaged 17.5 points, 13.3 rebounds and 5.3 blocks while leading Kokomo to the Class 4A semi-state. The more…
One of Indiana’s top recruiting targets concluded his official visit to Bloomington on Wednesday. Class of 2023 4-star wing Jamie Kaiser has been one of the biggest risers during the spring and summer playing for the New World AAU program on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. The 6-foot-6 Kaiser is a versatile three-level scorer who can play the two or the three at the next level. The former Division One football prospect is a strong, physical prospect who buys in on the defensive end as well. Below is our post-visit Q&A with Kaiser. —————————————- TDH: So what is standing out to…
Class of 2023 forward/center Arrinten Page is taking an official visit to IU, beginning on Wednesday. He is the second of three key class of 2023 visits this week, following Jamie Kaiser and preceding DeShawn Harris-Smith. Page is a key target for Indiana as they look to replenish the frontcourt after the anticipated departures of Trayce Jackson-Davis and Race Thompson following the 2022-23 season. Hailing from Georgia, Page began earning high major offers in the spring after a strong start to the AAU season. Below are the key things to know about Page as he arrives for his two-day visit.…

David Ellis’ college career was filled with promise after a fast start. But it was also filled with injuries over the last two seasons. Eventually the injuries won out. The senior running back’s college career has come to an end as Ellis is taking a medical hardship disqualification according to multiple reports. The medical disqualification means Ellis will keep his scholarship at IU, but he does not count against the NCAA’s limit of 85 scholarships. Ellis appeared in the first three games of the 2021 season before he had a season-ending ankle injury. He rushed three times for 12 yards…
