After two seasons at Indiana, sophomore guard C.J. Gunn is in the transfer portal. The 6-foot-6 Gunn averaged 3.9 points and shot 34.2 percent from the field this season. Gunn delivered some key performances, including an eight-point, four-steal game in a win at Michigan, and a 10-point effort in a home win over Ohio State. Payton Sparks, we barely knew you. After one season in Bloomington, the junior center has entered the transfer portal, according to multiple reports. In his lone season with IU, the 6-foot-9 Sparks average 2.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 7.4 minutes per contest.  He shot 51.4% from the field overall, and 41.7% from the free throw line. Sparks transferred to Indiana after two season at Ball State, where he earned second-team All-MAC honors as a sophomore. Sophomore forward Kaleb Banks is leaving Indiana after two seasons. The 6-foot-8 Banks is in the transfer portal according to multiple reports. Banks averaged 2.6 points and shot 39.2 percent from the field as a sophomore.  He was one of Indiana’s key players in a win over Louisville with eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals.  And he added a 12-point, five rebound effort in a win over Kennesaw State in late December. Carlyle earned honorable mention All-Pac-12 Freshman Team honors in 2024. Indiana will host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season. The No. 4 seed in Albany Regional 1, Indiana will face No. 13 Fairfield (31-1) in the first round (Saturday, 1:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2). Indiana’s 2023-24 season is officially over. After their 93-66 loss to Nebraska in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals in Minneapolis, the Hoosiers will pivot to rebuilding their roster for next season rather than play in the NIT, a source confirmed to The Daily Hoosier. The Hoosiers will lose Xavier Johnson and Anthony Walker to eligibility, and Kel’el Ware is expected to leave for the NBA Draft.   That will leave at least four roster openings for next season before any transfer portal departures. Indiana lost to Nebraska in Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal action Friday evening at Target Center in Minneapolis by a final score of 93-66.
