Class of 2026 4-star wing Cole Cloer says Indiana is one of the eight schools he’s still considering for college. The other seven on his list are N.C. State, UConn, Florida, Alabama, Virginia, North Carolina and Louisville, according to Joe Tipton of Rivals. The 6-foot-7 Cloer attends Caldwell Academy in Hillsborough, N.C. He averaged 18.9 points with 7.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists as a high school junior. He shot 40.7% from three while leading his team to a state championship. This is the first major public facing indication of positive momentum for Indiana with Cloer. The next thing to watch…

The Athletic’s Sam Vecenie is projecting IU basketball forward Tucker DeVries will be drafted in the NBA next summer. Vecenie has DeVries as the No. 54 player on his 2026 NBA Draft board. He wasn’t included on a similar 2026 preview by ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo, and DeVries is the only member of the current IU team receiving draft projections at this time. Other familiar names appear on Vecenie’s 2026 top-60 (i.e. two rounds), including UConn’s Braylon Mullins (No. 7), Kansas’ Flory Bidunga (No. 39), Texas A&M’s Mackenzie Mgbako (No. 57), and Purdue’s Braden Smith and Trey Kaufman-Renn…
When Indiana opens fall camp on July 30, at least four preseason All-Americans will take the practice fields. Both Phil Steele and Walter Camp have named their respective preseason All-American teams, and so far three IU defenders and one member of the offense have been recognized. Steele says wide receiver Elijah Sarratt, edge rusher Mikail Kamara, and linebacker Aiden Fisher are all second-team All-Americans, while cornerback D’Angelo Ponds is on the third-team. Steele names the All-American teams on page 18 of his annual preseason magazine. Indiana is one of just five schools (Alabama, Clemson, Indiana, Penn State and Texas) to…
A year ago at this time IU fans were introduced to an unfamiliar topic: a quarterback with a chance to win the Heisman Trophy. Various sports books listed Kurtis Rourke with anywhere from 150/1 to 300/1 odds to hoist the coveted hardware in New York. Including Rourke as a contender proved prescient, as he ended up ninth in the final 2024 Heisman voting. Now Heisman talk is becoming situation normal in Bloomington. Ahead of the 2025 campaign, new IU quarterback Fernando Mendoza has even better preseason odds than Rourke, ranging from 50/1 to 75/1 across six well known national sports…
It had been 20 years since Indiana had defeated Michigan. 36 years since the Hoosiers last claimed a victory over Ohio State. IU had never beat both the Wolverines and the Buckeyes in the same season. All of those streaks came to an end in 1987. Bill Mallory’s first season (1984) saw the Hoosiers go 0-11. Just three years later, Mallory and his Hoosiers were taking down college football giants. The non-conference portion of the schedule didn’t portend what was to come. The Hoosiers handled Rice (with current IU coach Curt Cignetti on staff) easily to open the season…
The Philadelphia 76ers announced Tuesday evening via release the team has re-signed former IU basketball one-and-done star Eric Gordon. It’s a one-year, veteran’s minimum deal worth $3.6M, Sixers beat reporter Derek Bodner notes. Gordon, who originally signed with the 76ers on July 10, 2024, averaged 6.8 points and shot 40.9-percent from beyond the arc (42.6% FG, 75.0% FT) to go along with 1.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 39 games (13 starts) last season. Gordon reached double-digit scoring on 14 occasions in 2024-25, 11 of which came in January. He averaged 9.8 points on 52.0-percent shooting (52.6% 3FG) while playing…
Indiana added to an already impressive group of 2026 defensive linemen with a commitment from Cameron McHaney on Tuesday afternoon. McHaney announced his verbal pledge to the Hoosiers on his social media pages. He told Tom Loy of 247Sports he chose IU because “he fit the scheme perfectly.” The 6-foot-1 and 315-pound McHaney picked IU over four other finalists: Illinois, Louisville, Purdue and Vanderbilt. He took official visits to his finalists over the last couple months. Based on the average of the national sites, McHaney is the No. 408 overall player in the class, and the No. 39 defensive lineman. …
Indiana has offered class of 2026 4-star big man Marcis Ponder, he reported on his Instagram page. A product of Miami, Fla., Ponder attends Gillion Academy in Virginia. He played over the weekend at the DMV Live event where the IU staff was watching prospects. Ponder might be the most physically imposing player in the rising senior class. He is typically described in the neighborhood of 7-feet and 320 pounds. He goes by the nickname ‘The Big Show’ and has been called ‘Baby Shaq.’ In the average of the national rankings, Ponder is a 4-star, the No. 67 overall player…
A trio of seniors who followed IU football coach Curt Cignetti from James Madison to Indiana will represent the Hoosiers at the Big Ten’s media day July 22 in Las Vegas. Wide receiver Elijah Sarratt, linebacker Aiden Fisher, and edge rusher Mikail Kamara are the three players who will join Cignetti at the annual event next month. While these are three clear leaders of the team, don’t expect them to be named captains. Cignetti said last year he doesn’t designate anyone a team captain. “Never chosen captains, ever,” Cignetti said last summer. “I put guys out in front of flex…
If you blinked you might have missed Luke Fischer’s Indiana basketball career. But the 6-foot-11 Fischer is reuniting with some of his former IU teammates on the Assembly Ball IU alumni team in the 2025 edition of the basketball tournament. A top-100 recruit coming out of high school in the class of 2013, Fischer left IU before the calendar hit 2014. Seeing a limited role behind Noah Vonleh, he averaged 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds in 13 games for IU. Fischer was part of a highly touted recruiting class that also included Vonleh, Troy Williams, Stanford Robinson and Devin Davis.…
