IU outfielder Devin Taylor is a unanimous All-American. With the release of D1 Baseball’s All-American teams, Taylor was honored by every major outlet following his outstanding junior campaign. Taylor becomes just the third player in program history to be named as a unanimous All-American. Kyle Schwarber and Dustin DeMuth were both awarded the same honor following IU’s 2014 campaign. Many West Virginia fans did not handle the news of Darian DeVries’ sudden departure well. And that’s understandable. Indiana is still expanding its class of 2026 offer list. Rising senior wing Aiden Derkack announced an offer from the IU staff on Sunday afternoon. According to the industry average of the national recruiting outlets, Derkack is a 4-star, the No. 84 overall player in the 2026 class, and the No. 24 shooting guard. The 6-foot-6 Derkack attends Colonia H.S. in Colonia, N.J., where he averaged 24.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game as a junior. Indiana continued to expand its offer list in the class of 2027 over the weekend. Melbourne, Fla. product Martay Barnes announced an offer from the IU staff on his social media pages. The 6-foot-2 Barnes attends Academy of Central Florida and played in front of the IU staff this weekend at the DMV Live event in the Washington D.C. metro area. For the second time in two years, IU football has cancelled a future nonconference series with a Power 4 opponent. Two years ago Tom Allen’s Hoosiers bought their way out of a home-and-home set of games against Louisville. And now according to a report by the Herald Times, Indiana has once again paid to get out of a home-and-home series — this time previously scheduled 2027 and 2028 games against Virginia. With assistant coach Kenny Johnson back on the IU staff, the Hoosiers continue to place a heavy emphasis on the Washington D.C. metro area. The latest sign of that came Friday when the Hoosiers offered class of 2027 guard J’Lon Lyons. Lyons attends Clinton Grace Christian School in Clinton, Maryland. In the average of the national rankings, Lyons is a 3-star, the No. 100 overall player, and the No. 27 shooting guard in the 2027 class. Indiana picked up a commitment from 3-star class of 2026 safety Jamar Owens on Friday afternoon. Owens announced his decision on his Instagram page.  He took an official visit to IU last weekend. According to the industry average, Owens is the No. 70 safety in the 2026 class. The 6-foot and 180-pound Owens attends Jonesboro H.S. in Douglasville, Ga.  He had 70 tackles including three for loss, three interceptions and two forced fumbles as a junior. The Miami Heat NBA Summer League roster will have some IU flair next month. Former Hoosiers center Kel’el Ware will be playing a second season with the Heat, and he’ll be joined this summer by his successor on the low block in Bloomington. Multiple outlets have reported Oumar Ballo will play for the Heat this summer as he vies for a professional role. Ballo averaged 13 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 62.3 percent from the field for Indiana last season. Indiana made what appears to be their first class of 2028 offer on Thursday evening. The IU staff offered rising sophomore wing Boogie Cook.  In his social media posts announcing the offer, Cook said it was his first Division I offer.  Schools like Purdue and Louisville and others are also involved. The Louisville, Ky. product attends Christian Academy of Louisville. The 6-foot-7 Cook played in front of the IU staff at the program’s team camp in Bloomington earlier this month.
