Tom Izzo’s first Big Ten game came against Bob Knight’s Hoosiers in 1996, and after upsetting Indiana, he was prepared for the worst. “You know my first game was Indiana at home, they were good, we weren’t, and we upset them. Everybody told me boy if that happens you’ll see the other side of him (Knight),” Izzo said in November after Knight passed. “I never saw that other side of him, he was nothing but an incredible human being to me, to my program. Helped me in a lot of ways and I think that’s the hardest thing as I…

They were saving their best for last? After a 14-13 start to the regular season, Indiana finished 4-0, closing with a Senior Day win over Michigan State. The Hoosiers were dominant early, and jumped out to a 24-7 lead with 8:50 left in the first half. The Spartans closed the first half on an 8-0 run, and they continued that momentum in the second half with a 14-2 start that gave MSU a 43-36 lead. Back and forth they went as Indiana rallied from multiple seven point deficits. But IU closed the game with a 17-9 run over the final…

Indiana has not formally announced who will participate in Senior Day festivities Sunday following their home finale against Michigan State. But the program sent a pretty clear signal today via a social media post. It looks like IU fans should expect Anthony Leal and Trey Galloway to be honored along Anthony Walker and Xavier Johnson. Former IU basketball star Trayce Jackson-Davis went viral earlier this week. In one sequence he blocked two shots by NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo, and then dunked a lob on the other end of the court. What a sequence for Trayce Jackson-Davis 😤 pic.twitter.com/oq9V3nq5Pb — NBA TV (@NBATV) March 7, 2024 Warriors coach Steve Kerr was already thinking about playing Jackson-Davis more, and his performance against the Bucks and Giannis only served to reinforce that idea as Golden State readies for another postseason run. “We have to get Trayce more minutes to get him ready for the playoffs because he needs…
If Indiana’s lone path to the NCAA Tournament comes via winning the Big Ten Tournament, that route got ever so slightly easier over the last week. It appears Indiana has played their way out of the first round of next week’s tournament with their current three-game winning streak. Where they ultimately land seems like a bit of a formality at this point. In any case Indiana is going to have to win four games next week, and at some point that will likely include facing No. 1 Purdue. A week ago Indiana’s seeding range was anywhere from N0. 5 to…
John Isenbarger, one of the star players on Indiana’s lone Rose Bowl team, died Thursday at age 76. Isenbarger is one of only four IU football players to earn first team All-America recognition on two different occasions. Isenbarger and the 1967 Indiana squad were co-Big Ten champions and played in that Rose Bowl game against USC. After going to IU as a quarterback, Isenbarger switched to running back when Harry Gonso was named that team’s starter. For his career the Muncie, Ind. native averaged an impressive 5.0 yards per carry. Isenbarger is currently tenth on IU’s all-time rushing yards list…
Indiana coach Mike Woodson spoke with the media Friday morning, just hours after the news broke his lone class of 2024 commit, 5-star Liam McNeeley, was reopening his recruitment. IU leaked earlier this week Woodson would be back as head coach for the 2024-25 season, his fourth in Bloomington. Woodson was asked during a Friday Zoom conference about his level of concern with having no commits in the 2024 class. It was just the latest uncomfortable question the 65-year-old has faced this week. On Wednesday following his team’s 70-58 win at Minnesota, Woodson was asked about the news of him…
