Indiana football has now seen a program-record eight players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Linebacker Aiden Fisher set that mark Saturday evening, as the Houston Texans took him in the seventh round at No. 243 overall. He’s the second defensive player taken from Indiana this year, along with cornerback D’Angelo Ponds.
IU’s previous record came in 1976, when seven Hoosiers were picked.
Fisher was Indiana’s primary leader on and off the field ever since Curt Cignetti took over in December 2023. He led the Hoosiers with 118 tackles in 2024, and finished second in 2025 with 97.
The Fredericksburg, Va. native recorded 10.5 tackles for loss as a senior this past season, with 5.5 in 2024. He came up with two interceptions in 2025, including an early pick six against UCLA, as well as one forced fumble.
Fisher will have to fight for a role with Houston. The Texans have Azeez Al-Shaair and E.J. Speed locking down middle linebacker, as well as free agent signing Jake Hummel as depth.
