The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have signed QB Nate Sudfeld to a one-year deal.
He’ll share the QB room with fellow former Hoosier Kurtis Rourke. Defensive tackle C.J. West is also with the NFL franchise.
Sudfeld worked out with the team on Monday before signing. He did not play in 2024 after being released by the Lions during the preseason.
The news comes after 49ers backup Mac Jones suffered what is being described as a non-serious knee injury. Rourke is recovering from ACL surgery and is not expected to be available until later in the season.
Rourke was the first IU quarterback to be drafted since Sudfeld.
