Indiana football’s recruiting class of 2021 has taken on a decidedly in-state flavor

Bloomington based tight end Aaron Steinfeldt has become the third player to verbally commit to IU in the class of 2021, and all three hail from the state of Indiana.

Steinfeldt announced his commitment on his Twitter page.

    — Aaron Steinfeldt (@ASteinfeldt6) April 3, 2020

Steinfeldt’s Twitter post read as follows:

“First off I’d like to thank God for giving me the blessings and talents to play the sport I love.  Second I’d like to thank all my coaches whose help guide me through this journey.  I’d also like to thank the entire Bloomington North football staff and Coach Bless for giving me the opportunity to wear Maroon and Gold proudly across my chest.  Third I want to thank my mom and dad for always being my number one fans and always being there for me and help guiding me through this process.  Lastly I’d like to thank all of the coaches who’d take time out of their day and recruited me, you’d really make my dream come true of being a Division 1 athlete, and I wish you all the best of luck in your upcoming season.  With that being said, I’m excited to announce that I’m staying home and I’m committed to Indiana University!  Go Hoosiers! #LEO”

A three-star recruit, Steinfeldt is the No. 717 player overall in the class of 2021 and the No. 32 tight end according to the 247Sports Composite.

The 6-foot-5, 235 pound junior caught 40 passes for 535 yards and five touchdowns in 2019 while playing in eight games for Bloomington North.

The local product had several offers including Cincinnati, Ball State, Central Michigan and Toledo.

Steinfeldt also plays on the Bloomington North basketball team.  He averaged 10.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for the 2019-20 season.
