Indiana and the Nittany Lions tip-off at Noon ET on BTN.

    ———————————————————————–

FINAL: Indiana 77, Penn State 71

    Image

    SECOND HALF

Penn State cuts it to 73-71, but Hoosiers still lead with 40 seconds.

    • Zach Hicks knocks down his first of the game from outside and it’s a big one. Mgbako going to the line for two shots.

69-63 Hoosiers at the final media timeout. 3:55 to play.

    • Not out of the water yet. Penn State is eight for their last nine attempts and had cut the lead to as little as four. Indiana has to get stops in these last few minutes.
    • Luke Goode has also been an unsung hero of this game. Three made 3-pointers and 12 points total, along with seven rebounds.

Hoosiers up 62-53 with 8:12 to play.

    • IU has to be careful here. PSU has hit all five of their last five attempts. Have to generate some stops to keep a lead.
    • Penn State’s defense has been solid all game, but they’ve only forced two Indiana turnovers this half.

Indiana maintains a 58-45 lead with 10:35 to play.

    • Hoosiers have already scored the same amount of points that they did in the first half. They’re shooting 11-for-16 from the field overall in the second half.
    • Oumar Ballo continues to dominate. He’s got a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

IU on fire. They lead 44-33 with 15:57 to play.

    • Indiana is outscoring Penn State 15-4 through the first few minutes of the first half. They’ve also hit three 3-pointers on four attempts. Mgbako with two of them, Goode with one.
    • Rice with his first two points of the game early in the second half. He’s had a really solid game on both sides, just hasn’t had the point total to show for it.

    37-29 Hoosiers in 1:17 played.

    • Mackenzie Mgbako with eight quick points to put the Hoosiers ahead. Myles Rice with a steal after an in-bounds to help set up a three from Mgbako.

HALFTIME: Indiana 29, Penn State 29

    FIRST HALF

All tied up at 27 with 3:22 left in the half.

    • Nice game from Ballo so far. He’s forcing the issue on offense and on the glass. Up to 12 points and seven rebounds.
    • After a decent start, Hoosiers are just 2-for-9 on 3-pointers thus far.

Penn State takes a 22-20 lead with eight minutes in the half.

    • Indiana getting burnt on back cuts and on the inside. PSU leads points in the paint 22-10.
    • Carlyle’s struggles continue, as he’s six for his last 26 attempts, and one for his last 14 from three.

IU maintains a 17-14 lead with 11:57 left in the half.

    • Good effort from Myles Rice on the defensive end so far today. Has a few tipped passes and a steal on the day.
    • Ballo also making an impact on the glass early. He’s got six points and four rebounds. Hoosiers have allowed three offensive rebounds on their own end, though.

Indiana 13 – Penn State 10 with 14:51 left in the first half.

    • Another nice start from beyond the arc for the Hoosiers, who have two made threes already. Mgbako and Goode each with one. Goode is the leading scorer with six points.
    • IU hasn’t been able to slow down Penn State though, as the Nittany Lions are shooting 71 percent. They have forced a couple of turnovers through the first few minutes, though.

    PREGAME

    • Malik Reneau is out for today’s game. I imagine Luke Goode will start.
    • Technically a home game for Penn State, but with the smaller seat count at the Palestra, the crowd may not affect play that much. Still, such a cool venue to look at.
    • Starters: Rice, Galloway, Goode, Mgbako, Ballo
