After a 4-0 start to the 2025-26 season, new head coach Darian DeVries has IU basketball back in the top-25.
The Hoosiers are ranked No. 25 in the updated coaches poll released Monday afternoon. They’re effectively No. 27 in the new AP top-25.
Indiana will play No. 6 (in both polls) Louisville on Dec. 6 in Indianapolis. They’ll face No. 12 (AP) / No. 13 (Coaches) Kentucky later next month in Lexington.
Also ranked from the Big Ten and on IU’s schedule down the road are Purdue (1/1), Michigan (7/6), Illinois (8/8), Michigan State (17/18), UCLA (19/20), and Wisconsin (23/21). IU plays Purdue and Michigan State twice, and they’ll face Michigan, Illinois and UCLA on the road this season.
This is the first time IU basketball has been ranked in either poll since their poor showing at the Battle 4 Atlantis during the week of Thanksgiving last year.
Indiana has also moved up considerably in the computer models. They are currently No. 22 at KenPom after starting the season No. 40. That outlet gives IU the No. 18 offense and No. 31 defense in Division I.
IU’s most noteworthy win to this point came against Marquette on a neutral court in Chicago. The Hoosiers won that game convincingly, 100-77.
The Hoosiers face Lindenwood on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET. Their next high major test comes next week when they host Kansas State on Tuesday.
