As reported by The Daily Hoosier on Monday morning, Evansville, Ind. five-star point guard Khristian Lander has officially reclassified into the class of 2020.

IU released quotes from head coach Archie Miller on Monday discussing Lander’s decision.

Also included in the release is confirmation that Lander has already signed his national letter of intent.

Here are the statements by Miller:

“We are thrilled to be welcoming Khristian and his family to Indiana University.”

“He is a tremendous addition to our program not just as a basketball player, but a great person, and terrific student.”

“I knew when I first saw Khristian at 15 years old, that he was a special player. He has great feel for the point guard position. His competitive drive has pushed him to elevate his game rapidly and his family has done a great job of keeping him grounded and humble.”

“He cares a great deal about his teammates and winning. It speaks volumes about him wanting this opportunity now and bypassing all of the HS accolades and opportunities he has in front of him to enjoy like most want so often.”

“We are thankful to his family, the trust that goes into this is not easy. Indiana University and Bloomington are the perfect stage for him to grow on and off the court, as well as a student on campus.”

Khristian Lander Signs National Letter of Intent To Play Basketball at Indiana

Indiana University men’s basketball coach Archie Miller has announced that Khristian Lander, a 6-2, 5-star point guard from Evansville Reitz High School, has signed a national letter of intent to attend IU and play basketball for the Hoosiers next season. Lander was the top ranked point guard in the Class of 2021 but has decided to reclassify to the Class of 2020 and will join a recruiting class that includes Indiana’s Mr. Basketball Anthony Leal (Bloomington South), Trey Galloway (Culver Academies) and Jordan Geronimo (St. Pauls New Hampshire) that is now ranked 13th in the country by 247 Sports.

Lander scored 1,314 points in his career and averaged 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4.6 rebounds last season and was named third team All-American by MaxPreps. He led Coach Michael Adams’ Panthers to a Sectional title and was named second-team All-State, an Indiana Junior All-Star and first-team All-Southern Indiana Athletic Conference. He averaged 23.2 points as a sophomore and entered the season ranked as the No.11 player in the Class of 2021 by 247 Sports, No. 12 by ESPN and No. 17 by Scout.com. He is now rated the #24 player in the Class of 2020 by 247Sports and the 5th best point guard among incoming freshman. He played for Indiana Elite’s AAU program, was coached by Mike Fox, and was a teammate of Leal and Galloway.

He is the son of Keith and Brandie Lander.
