Indiana freshman guard Aleksa Ristic could make his debut against Minnesota on Wednesday evening.
In any event, his first game as a Hoosier is coming sooner than later.
Ristic was listed is listed as questionable for tonight’s game at Williams Arena in Minneapolis (7 p.m. ET, BTN). He had been listed as out for the first seven games of the season.
A product of Serbia, Ristic went through pregame warmups for the first time on Saturday when IU faced Bethune-Cookman.
On his Monday evening radio show, head coach Darian DeVries said Ristic was nearing a return.
“He’s getting closer and closer, so we’re excited about that,” DeVries said. “He’s someone, again, that gives you just another ball handler, another decision maker, another guy that really understands what we’re trying to do. He’s going to add to our depth and really give us a valuable piece as we continue on throughout the season.”
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Ristic joined the IU team in Bloomington in late July, just ahead of their summer trip to Puerto Rico.
Ristic played in Puerto Rico in early August and averaged 4.3 points, 3.0 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game while going 6 of 13 from the field and 1 of 4 from three.
He suffered a lower leg injury during the fall.
Indiana will still be without forward Josh Harris and guard Jason Drake on Wednesday against Minnesota.
