Indiana Basketball Recruiting 2020 Names to Know: Elijah Hutchins-Everett

With what appears to be four available scholarships for its 2020 class, Indiana will make a hard push to fill one of those openings with someone that can play the five spot.

One player in the class that the Hoosier coaching staff has been focusing on recently is Elijah Hutchins-Everett.

The 6-foot-11 center is rated as a 4-star by the 247Sports Composite.  He is the No. 64 player overall in the 2020 class and the No. 11 center according to that same service.

Hutchins-Everett moved up 50 spots in the national rankings in March after strong showings in national events and an impressive junior season in high school.  He attends Immaculate Conception in Montclair N.J.

While we do not believe that IU has formally offered a scholarship, the Hoosiers have been heavily involved recently.

Hutchins-Everett told 247Sports ($) last week that Indiana has been “extremely active recently” and he is “very interested” in IU.

The Wayne, N.J. native is regarded as a top rebounder with an impressive physique.  He has been described as having elite hands and feet by recruiting services, with a much improved offensive game and a physical presence on both ends of the floor.  Hutchins-Everett has the ability to knock down perimeter shots as well.

Playing for the New Jersey based Playaz Club AAU team on the Nike EYBL circuit, Hutchins-Everett has averaged 11.8 points per game on 47.3 percent shooting from the field in six contests.  The big man has shot 73.1 percent from the free throw line.

The 225 pound Hutchins-Everett has added 8.5 rebounds and .8 blocks per game in just over 22 minutes per contest this spring.

Hutchins-Everett has offers from several other high major programs.  The primary competition right now appears to be Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, Notre Dame and Syracuse.
